They are recruiting on a couple other Boards as well. On one Board, people are responding to the post by making suggestions of who they would like to see do it plus they are sending suggestions in PM's to Jesse. I think that's a pretty good idea.
Kind of like politicians, do I really want to vote for anyone who actively campaigns for the job? LOL

I have to throw my 2 cents in, and believe me all I have is 2 cents to my name so you are getting my best LOL.
First, this is a nice idea and would work in a "perfect world" and in other groups is somewhat helpful. BUT, remember what we are dealing with here. This is a chronic pain site and just the nature of pain makes people act out cause they are in pain.
Anyway, this group is too volital, explosive and sometimes downright abusive. There is absoluetly NOT ONE single member who knows how this group is could do this job. INMO if this actually happens, the job should be given to an outsider with no preconceived ideas about this group. An outsider can see what happens with a fresh sight and will see thngs differently than we do. And like I said, us who are in severe pain are too sensative and sometimes when the pain is so bad we can tend to be inconsitant and well all kinds of things, so I also IMO the CL should NOT have chronic pain!!
One more point that I see most people are talking about the CL job and all as a way to get someone in POWER to control the group and eliminate all the negativity.
Im sorry but I know this group and no matter WHO gets the CL job, there are people on this board that will run that CL off anyway.
Like I said "in a perfect world" yeah, this would work. But it is just a pipe dream. I dont see it working. But hey, I pray I am dead wrong!! I pray they find a great CL who might have a way to help reel in this group, just dont have a lot of belief it is possible but lets see.

In agreement with both Tigg; comment #5 and also another who agreed with her, I feel it shouldn't be someone that is part of this group as that is where the trouble may lie and also the ones who would be good at it either don't have the time or are in too much CP to do so.
We could do a private vote but that even scares me as I don't know who completely trusts who and the reasons for it. Honestly the best person for this job had her acct deleted a long time ago now so I feel it best to pick someone that truly understands pain, possibly living with it but has NO interest in any particular people in the group.
I hope this helps as I could name one person also who I know would be great and objective but don't know if she wants the job or not.

I totally disagree with you, I think this is a great group and like others it has some problems. I dont think because people are in pain are any meaner then any other people . I think someone is this group should be a CL that way they know the history of the group and know what to look for and what not to look for. They know when post are going to go negative and they can try to diffuse it or shut it down and in my opinion that is what this group needs.

I have been a member for awhile and beside for some post I really like the group and the people, there are alot of caring and truthful respectful people in here that need a place that is free of some of the crap that keeps on coming back time and time again.

I dont think I or anyone else would be coming here daily if this group was as bad as you think it is.

Manny, in case a vote is taken or the PM's Jesse will get with suggestions I did send one name that I thought would be so perfect and I do trust people here & I wouldn't be here if I thought in any way this was a bad group. I agree this group is and has been a God Send to so many.
It would just take someone that is completely non biased when it comes to the power that is given with this job. There are some wonderful people that I could also name that I would trust but the ones I know wouldn't or couldn't be able to do the job which is so much a part of CP.
Hopefully if someone from the group is chosen, it will be someone who has lived with CP long enough that their own issues would never cloud their abilities or judgment to do this & would do so based entirely on rules; not friends.
That is hard to separate at times for some people and anyone who does volunteer or get voted in, I will respect and hope that they can really do what needs to be done for this group to keep it as good as it has been.

The only problem is with so many people here there are going to be some who think someone is biased and some who think that person is non biased. There will be no way for everyone to agree on one person everyone has opinions. I would think that whoever is chosen would not let their friends cloud any judgment they might have and I am sure they will not.

I know some think this group is clicky but I really dont see it, I think everyone is equal and I dont think this would be a power trip for anyone it is not that kind of position where that would come into play. CL's are really sort of limited to what they can do. They can close a post and try to meditate any problems but they can not ban or suspend anyone so I do not think the position brings a power aspect to it.

This is just a tool to keep the integrity of the group and keep it safe from scammers and "trolls".

I am really glad that DS was listening to us we asked for a CL and now they are going to give it to us, I dont think a majority of us are even going to see a difference at all and the group will go on as usually the only people who it will bother are the ones who cause problems and to tell you the truth there really is not a tons of problems right now. Am I wrong am I not seeing something that everyone else is seeing.

There have been specific comments right here on this thread that PROVE the CL should be an outsider, no idea about the condition the group has been in. This is the ONLY way we will know it is being handled professionally rather than personal. HINT: Someone recently said in a post something to the effect in regards to me that people dont forget and someo other stuff. This person was letting me know that just the site of my screen name peoples minds go to their memories unfortunately. What is it called a Scareltt Letter? Anyway someone with no history Is the ONLY person who could be 100% un biased! ANY other "situation" I am afraid this group will self destruct! I have seen it happen soooo often!! So think about it people!!!
BUT this is purely MY observation of welll life in general.

I don't think there's anyway to satisfy us all. I can think of several people that could do a great job at it but they may not want to do it. I think no matter who does get it that someone will have a problem with it. I don't see that it's a power play, only a position to keep things from going too far. I'm glad they're doing something about it. I do like the voting idea but first we need to know who's interested in doing it.

This site has been amazingly quiet for at least a month. Its been WONDERFUL here. Like back to the good ol' days.

I get a feeling from your posts that you sound a little miffed about something. Are you doing okay?

I think we should look outside the box and not just look on our own personal situation, TY you stated that you felt the way you do because of something wrote about you. I think there is no way someone can be picked based on every interaction there is, that is just to many scenarios to run through. So we got to forget about how it deals with us personally and more based on what it does for the group as a whole.

We need someone who knows CP, and bring in someone from where if not here? someone with out chronic pain does not make sense to me. In other groups the cl's are part of the group even before and it is not a problem, and you dont think there are some problems is some really heated groups with alot of emotions this group is nothing compared to them, we may have physical pain but alot of poor people have emotional pain and psychology problems that they deal with, now that is hard. It would be like having a CL in the bipolar group who was not bipolar. That would be a disaster if someone didnt know first hand about that.

Superduck is awesome, knowlegeable, fair and smart

Manny123 is also a person that I would consider to be a perfect CL

I also have Dmasucci (sp?), he is awesome, and level headed.

I know that by naming names I might be "thrown to the lions", but I don't care, been in chronic pain has given me a really tough skin, and I can take it. And BTW, I do not think that this group is "volatile" or "abusive", some members are volatile and abusive, and those are the ones that I avoid! The rest of my choices are:

Ladyfairhair (or the dancing cow-lol), is very fair and also a person that everyone respects.

Kansass will be my last choice, he is a fantastic member and tries to stay away from the "crap" that goes on here with the abusive and volatile members that I wish we didn't have.

I made a mistake, the member that I want it to also mention is "dmaspord" I think.................... Hope that I got it right this time!

Then you have to consider that some that would make really good and fair "CLs" can't be used due to a certain user causing "spank o gram" letters in emails... sigh.

I do agree with an outsider to this group too though. No connections, no buddies etc...

I would like to weigh in on the suggestions that the CL should be an outsider - and I am going to disagree completely.

Let me try and explain this.
You need to have someone who has CP and knows the limitations it puts on you both physically and emotionally. Any one who does not understand that would not have any hope of working with the people on this board.

I have been on DS for nearly 4 years now and seen many come and go and have talked to some of the CLs in other groups and they all seem to have friends in their groups and can still work on keeping the peace. And I am sure that some people will always point the finger and say "so-and-so" is biased, I think that comes with the job and you need a very thick skin to even consider doing it

And finally (I think) those who have some knowledge of the people who post on here regularly will be aware of Those who are picked on, those who try to bait other members and those who are prone to do the picking.

I hope that whoever they pick will do a great job and get our support.
