So glad that there is a support group for those of us who are in chronic pain. About 2 months ago I had a sore that was on my calf. I am a diabetic and have poor circulation. I now have a venous ulcer on my calf which causes a great deal of pain. I am going to the wound center where i live and they are treating it. I have never been in pain on an ongoing basis. I take Tramadol and Oxycodone when I cannot stand the pain. I am a positive person who has gone thru a lot in life overcame those struggles so I know I will get thru this. One question is how do others deal with pain. What kind of things can I do to take my mind off of this ulcer. I am an artist so that is one thing I can do, but I would like to better cope with how I deal with pain. Thank you for any feedback. Praying for all here to find peace and relief from your pain.

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

It gets very frustrating especially trying to walk/sit. etc. But I occupy my time doing good things for other. I Love doing Volunteer work, and random acts of kindness, it makes me feel better and takes my mind off my own pain.
Take Care and I hope you have many pain free days.
Take gentle care,

My major issue is OA and I had my left hip replaced last October.
Welcome! If you are able to work on the computer there might be some volunteering you could online. I'm not familiar with ulcers but massage can also help even if it is done on other places if it can't be done where it hurts. Also reflexology is great.
I'm just starting to find better ways of dealing with pain myself. I have found that art, staying busy, massage and not overdoing are helpful. I'm looking into professional massages and acupuncture for more relief.
Sending you light and healing thoughts.
Take care,

I can understand the pain (not from the ulcer) but my entire leg is always in pay due to the damage the blood clots did to my veins. Also, have you asked your doctor about taking anything to help thin your blood. Perhaps that might make it easier for your blood to circulate in the damaged veins. There are also drugs that they can give you to open up the blood vessels. Any how, I hope your wound heals with time and that you get better. Hugs.
@respectful, I get it about sitting being frustrating.
That ulcer sounds so painful.....I hope answers come to help you.
When my pain is through the roof I remind myself to quit running from the pain. Instead I will focus on an area of it and it won't seem so scattered and out of control, I get to be the one in control again.
Then there is the tv! music, which I sing along to.....that would knock an elephant down, because my voice is just that bad! snugglings with my furbabies.......how can you not distract with that :)
Hugs.........Toni
