Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
Because you have the thyroid troubles and the hep. C and have had radiation, it's hard to say what could be the cause of your low body temperature.
However, my body temperature runs low, as does my blood pressure, and I think other people who respond to this question may say the same!! Some of us can't even stand up in one position for ten minutes as a result of lowered BP. The low temp. may be more rare. But I've got it! Scared a whole ER one night when I showed up at 96.5 and told them that was normal for me!
Whelp! It is!!
Unfortunately, I don't know that there's much to do to fix low body temperature. I've often wished I could just move somewhere warm :-D
When I go to a doctor's office, the nurses and assistants don't record my temperature, they say the thermometer is not working right. I guess it is human nature to ignore things that don't fit one's preconceived notions of the way things should be.
Once I got ill, I went from 98.6 to running a low body temp. I have CFS, FM, Hypothryroid and other conditions, but I think those are the primary reasons for the lowered temp. When I get other conditions on top of a flare...for example, I had a superficial thrombosis in my left leg, caught a virus and had a flare...my temp dropped to 94 degrees, my blood pressure spiked really high.
I typically run low, but when a flare hits I spiral downward pretty quickly. Anything on top of the flare and I plummet to 94 degrees. Last year I found out that I have the cytomegalovirus and that probably is a part of it...chronic crap the movie....sorry, long day...welcome here, hope you can find some answers and great care, help for your conditions, get complete diagnosis and feel a bit better...sending hugs!
My body temp is typically on the low side. Usually 97. something. So when mine gets to be 99...I feel terrible....I figure that's like a normal person that has a regular temp of 98.8 and they have a temp of 100. My BP seems to be ok though, not extremely low, sometimes when I have bad back/abdomenal pain it will be higher.
Every morning I wake up and have any body temperature is a good thing though.....
