Okay, Heave, I have a couple more suggestions. Please don't take this as your doing anything wrong, bevause you're not. Just trying to help with what might appeal to a broader range of women.

Your photos are all great guy interest shots, but not many women are going to be interested in the size of your fish. Do you have a nice, casual photo of yourself relaxed and smiling? You look a bit serious, even stern. I'd keep a fishing shot as a secondary, they're rather scenic, but a nice, casual, smiling photo of Heave would have more appeal. You want to make a woman WANT to know you. Also, you say you have few friends. Though I know what you're saying, I'd drop that line, makes you sound like a loner or even worse, could be a sociopath. You could say, "I'm really close to a few good friends", word it differently. But I think a smiling main picture would be a plus.

Don't give up on the site yet, the paid ones aren't any better. And I agree about being honest about your marital state.

You're too young for me but you look fine, more important your profile that I checked was wonderful. People who "rated" you low definitely were looking for movie star or centerfold types. People should look in the heart. If I had married my ex of 21 years for his looks, would never have married him, too bad his heart wasn't there for the long haul. People are too into looks......having the same problem b/c mine are older now & body is definitely different weight wise but the person inside is still the same. I never heard of that website, my brother talked me into going on datehookup.com, it's a free site, have met 2 nice men but one's too busy and little far away for me and the other is looking mostly for marriage and I'm too scared to even think of that. Don't want to get that hurt again. i think physical attraction is important in a potential partner, but many that are great looking on the outside are in the minus numbers for inner qualities and substance. and thats really what counts the most. but i see your point about first impressions, heave. i wouldnt let it bother me about the rating. plentyoffish attracts more flakes and abusers because its a free site. gl to ya

Just a thought, if the divorce date is finalized,just hasn't happened yet, put divorced, separated to me means a possibility of getting back together. Also having a few really close friends is fine to me, just like extended family, those are the ones you can count on when you need to. Add in your profile that you like fishing for catch & release if that seems to be an issue for people. I don't like fishing but I would read a book while someone else fished as long as I could jump in the water sometimes to cool off but I wouldn't want to be with someone who lives for fishing alone and I dind't get that from your profile. Myspace also has a browse section and your family & friends can contact you. I had my teen set mine up b/c I didn't want to mess with it, my coworkers wanted me to do one and now I have some of my teen's friends on it...go figure?! Before I met my fiancee, I signed up on probably a half dozen singles/dating sites. My brother signed me on to at least two of them, thinking he was doing me a favor. (Brothers, gotta love 'em.) By that following June (of '07) I was utterly done with all of them. I ran into the same things other people have complained about here. EHarmony booted me off, said I wasn't 'matchable'. Talk about your ego killer.

But, less than a month after I quit all of them, I met my fiancee. Just when I had given up and resolved myself to be a hermit, it all turned around. Wanna know what attracted my fiancee to me in the beginning? Before we first met face to face, I told her what you see is what you get. I'm old, ugly and I grouse around a lot. I told her my separation situation. I left it up to her past that.
Its over a year later and she is sitting on the bed behind me. :)
