almost left wife, reconciled
went to therapy for a few years
went further into debt
kept up 'brave front' - "no problem"
hid debt, spent $ compulsively
wife found out, said we're done, hates my guts
closed myself off from everyone for about 3 months
finally started therapy again
found DS 2 weeks after that

Grew up with a supportive father and "Mommy Dearest" for a mother as well as my brother for whom I was his favorite punching bag.
Had the good fortune to be put in the accelerate education track, where I flourished.
In high school, I was a star - editor of the newspaper, principal actress in plays, head majorette, member of the honor society and valedictorian. Dated guys in college because the guys in high school didn't know what to do with me.
Started taking college classes in my junior year and went to the University of Santa Clara. Worked my way through and had scholarships. Got my BA.
In l970, I discovered the feminist movement and joined now. One year, I was a candidate for homecoming queen, the next year (post feminist revival) I was a candidate for Ugly Man.
Got engaged my junior year and married when I graduated. Spent a year on the Monterey Peninsula - founded Monterey and Salinas NOW, campaigned for the Equal Rights Amendment, then worked on a political campaign and worked in a law office. Decided to be an attorney.
Admitted to the School of Law at the University Santa Clara, got my JD and passed the bar the first time. Started my own practice, which over time flourished.
In l986, I gave birth to my son
In 2000, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I spent the next nine years trying to find the right drugs.
Separated from my abusive husband in November 2005 (the day after Thanksgiving).
In 2009 I almost died in surgery but my RA went into remission. I joined DS.

My husband became addicted to alcohol and RX meds.
Then he left me for some chick he works with.
He filed for divorce.
We are in the middle of that legal nonsense now.

Discovered DS when my previous life partner came here after we separated
Although she is no longer here, I have found this a very interesting, and sometimes humorous place to read so I continue reading and sometimes post.
And contrary to what many here believe, I am NOT the OW that broke up another DS member's marriage.
