Whatever helps him sleep at night....
I have a family member who said that an annulment would maybe "make you feel better that God is alright with it"....I assured her that GOD knows EXACTLY what happened in my marriage and I'm already quite sure He is okay with the dissolution of it.. That is one of the most comforting things to me in this. God knows what happened. And the Bible gives lots of clues about what He would think.
Shame be placed upon thee!!
(Thunder and Lightning)
Catholic here too, and the whole annulment thing really bothers me. Especially the part where you have to pay for it.
My ex's dad got his marriage annulled, this after having 5 kids. How the hell does the church justify doing that? Did they bastardize those kids in the eyes of the church?
With a tiny little mustache
My annulment from my first marriage cost $75 and it was very healing. It is just something from the church that says that the bond never took place as it should have. It doesn't mean your kids are bastards. Well, maybe they are,but not in the eyes of the Church. I was also told the civil marriage is recognized as well. The procedure is different to annul that. The Church doesn't have any jurisdiction in that arena but they still address it. At least the lovely nun who helped me said they would.
Some seminarians are a little clueless. The last time I saw a group of them, I thought... oh, they are sooooo young! And THEY are supposed to lead us? Better pray.
I have been married twice. My first was in a Methodist Church.
Many years later, I married a Catholic woman. I had to get an annulment from the first marriage to marry her in the Church. That was easily done since I did not marry my first wife in the Catholic Church. That was free, I think.
Then, after four years of being married to a Catholic martyr of a woman who was really married to her family and I was just window dressing, We had no life of our own. It was like living in a glass house. I got fed up and divorced her. Since she was Catholic, I thought I'd go ahead and file for an annulment so that she could remarry in the Catholic Church to some hapless guy in her future. I shelled out $300 only to be denied an annulment.
The Catholic Church blamed me for the demise of our marriage. I guess they wanted me to keep being a martyred husband.
Now, I am out $300 and my Catholic ex-wife can't remarry in the Catholic Church unless she forks out money and tries the annulment process herself.
So if you don't get your baby babtised.........does that mean that you're still a virgin?
