Hi. I’m new to the site and I’m struggling right now. I told my husband on Dec 13 which happened to be our 4 year wedding anniversary that i wanted to take a break. We’ve had problems for most of our marriage and I need time to work on myself and be happy. My husband had a great job when we got married, was happier, and pretended to like most things I liked. But 3 weeks after our wedding he lost that job and fell into a deep depression. He refuses to get help. Since then he has bounced from job to job and doesn’t always have one. Prior to getting married he told me that he always wanted it to be 50/50 bc he didn’t want to take care of me. I was fine with that but then since he lost that great job...he hasn’t kept up his end of the deal. And every time I try to talk to him about it we argue and fight. I try to push him to follow a new dream or find a new hobby and he just won’t. He just wants to play video games and smoke all day. I finally have a friend who is willing to let em stay with her for a while so I can focus on myself. I’m a major giver and empath so I worry about others before I worry about myself and that’s why I need a break. It’s sadly him or me. Either I stay and be miserable so he’s happy or I leave and he’s miserable for however long. I know I need to get away and fix myself bc honestly he married an empty shell of a woman who fooled everyone into thinking she was whole. I’ve had a lot of trauma over the years and I’ve never dealt with any of it bc I take care of others. Now I’m trying to focus on me and feel so guilty. Any advice?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

separation may open his eyes to his choice to wallow in sadness
and your eyes, marriage is all in...he seems to never claimed that he was 50/50 is not 100/100
what do you want, all in, if so , he is not the one
1) I guarantee you he was lying about that great job when y'all first met.
2) he loses a great job three weeks into your marriage and here we are four years later? When he first said 50/50 I'm not provided for no woman, that should have been your cue to bounce. Because saying all of that was unnecessary, and a red flag.
3) what he wants to do is play on your empathy so I take it that you are a co-dependent and he's a narcissistic lazy fool. What you see from him is what you are going to get for the rest of your life.
4) if you let him stay with that girlfriend they will be having sex before you know it, and you want to to be even more angrier?
- very safely and in a very thought out plan, you need to find a way to get his ass away from you. He's using depression as an excuse to sit on the couch playing video games all day, and not working.
5) you have two decisions feel bad for him and waste more years of your life or run now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember dating a lazy fool like that a few years back and he threatened suicide and all. He bought me a promise ring and an engagement ring. It is a couple of years later I have successfully started two businesses and I'm doing really well, because God has been such an amazing provider to me. Him, 4 years later? STILL living at his mother's house sponging off of her SSI and food stamps?
