Ive never been a huge fan of texting but without text messages i would still be with my cheating lying ex. I found out about his double life by finding just one text....

I hate IM, but I don't mind texts. I've gotten used to them, and in fact, sometimes prefer them to actually talking to the person. If I just have a quick thought or something reminded me of them briefly, I can send a quick text to basically let them know I'm thinking of them.

I have a phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, though. Texting with a numeric keypad sucks.

kermit.....same story for me. I hate texting. It is so superficial. Not for this kid. Good old fashioned talking works for me.

I don't text anymore. If I need to say something I call.

Texting is good for.

"Honey Don't forget the milk on the way home".

But is no substitute for a conversation.

I certainly wouldn't want to be doing it when I first start dating.

I love to text! I text over 3000 times a month. I prefer it to talking sometimes...

I like text messaging because it makes me feel a bit bold. I was raised in Catholic schools so you get the idea that I am really rather conservative in my conversations. But with text messages, I can say things I would customarily get embarassed from (sexy text messages to my stbx). I get your point though, it does get old. I don't even know now why I tolerated it for as long as I did. There are occasional cute, heartwarming texts but they are very, very rare. Like 1 in 300 texts, I would say.

People like superficial relationships. I like talking on the phone, or face to face one on one. I believe the younger generation loves texting more.

It can be impersonal but it's very handy when you want to send someone a quick hello or check on your kids while you're at work or in a situation that wouldn't allow for a phone conversation. Actually I've never used it until I met friends here so I had it added to my account. I normally don't enjoy talking on the phone with the exception of Z and AhHa so texting has it's benefits.

I personally love texting....but I do pick up the phone to call people too...I know I can text some of friends, and others I have to call..it's peronal preference really...and it depends on the reason too....I have a cell with full keyboard too instead of the kind where you have to hit the number keys to text.....

Texting is good for simple one liners or reminders, but to have full blown conversations no that is wrong. Although don't get me wrong it's nice to get the texts from your special someone saying hello sweety or have a good day honey those are nice and romantic. Those can definatly put a smile on your face. Or at least mine, I'm a sap for those.

Yes, B.... I agree.... texting is great for quick statements not requiring a response, little sweet things, now and again so they remain a 'special' note... but full-blown conversations... ugh.
