So sorry that you are feeling down. I replied to your other post before. Have you stuck to your list?:) I know it can be hard, and especially around the holidays, that's when people from our past seem to pop up in our heads. Whether it be exes, old friends we used to have, people that have passed on, etc. I know I am thinking a lot about people that I used to know.
Did you ever grieve for your relationship? It was a loss in your life. It sounds like since it ended suddenly, that could give you a sense of trauma, anger... and unfortunately you have to come to terms with it being over, and that's not an easy thing to do. But you can do it!!!
Making new friends seems to get harder as we get older. It really can't be forced or rushed. You can only do your best. Try to talk to people as much as you can force yourself to do. You will find other people might be lonely too. Maybe people at your gym, in that cardio class you went to? You can just make some small talk, talk about the work out, the instructor, the gym, weather, anything. Oh!! Ask if there is a good coffee place near the gym. Maybe you can turn that into asking if that person would like to join you!
Try not to be too hard on yourself. You have suffered a loss and you need some time to get back to feeling like yourself again. Be gentle with yourself.
