I have been thinking about all the mistakes that I have made while on this site. One that comes to mind, is even opening my mouth in the first place. I believe that my true calling should have been to just lurk in the background. It's hard to mess up when you don't talk to anyone. When communication is involved, there tends to be drama. I don't like drama.

Trying to know if they'd be decent enough to keep it, even if we wont be as close in the future as our discussions are now, might be a risk taken that ends up blowing up in my face later.

well the test of trustworthiness often comes afterwards, unfortunately.
Its easy to be a person of integrity when theres mutual like involved. But the real test is whether someone is still trustworthy, honest, respectful, fill in the blank when they dont like you.
My exS used to say once he became angry with someone, all bets were off, he became Mr Tenfold, making them pay ten times over for the slight he felt.
We dont find out my trust is wrongly placed until after the fact unfortunately.
