I have been with my boyfriend 5 years and we have a 3 year old son together. Up until a few months ago I have been a stay at home mom and I have a good life my boyfriend has given both me and my son. The problem is I'm not in love with him and don't know what to do. I'm staying with him because I have a good life here with him. I think he loves me and he tries to make me happy but I'm not at all. We have no sexual relationship(one time in the past year). I'm also dealing with depression right now & I just don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt him because he's a wonderful guy & I love him but I'm not in love with him. Help please

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
You've only made love once in the past year and, both of you are accepting of that?
If you no longer love him, then in fairness to you both you should tell him, and then leave him.
If you're dealing with depression and you're not happy, as a safe measure, I'd deal with those things first to discern where your lack of happiness comes from. It might mean seeing a therapist if you can't put your finger on it.
From where I see it, he sounds like a gem, and you sound like you don't appreciate what you have. What is love my dear? Can you explain it in a tangible way? Maybe he hasn't tried to be intimate with you because he senses your lack of desire for him, and it's weakening his self-esteem. A partner needs to know and feel that they're desired for their mojo to work. He's reacting to you and your loss of interest in him, and that dominoes to low self-esteem and zero sex drive. I'd look within to find out what it is you're doing that is causing you unhappiness, instead of looking to him for it.
Too many people have a Hollywood movie idea of love when no such thing exists other than on the big screen. Love isn't fireworks and fairy dust, and if you were to take the time to work on yourself, you might more easily find happiness in your life, instead of extinguishing the life you have now with a gem of a partner and father to your child. Have a read over in the infidelity board and see what some spouses are dealing with, and you might find some appreciation for what you have.
Wishing you well.
Happiness and love are both inside jobs, they are responsibilities of self to attain. I have worked on self-happiness and self-love for a long time and, I have arrived at the conclusion that being nonjudgmental is the key to.
I am not religious in any way, in fact I have no time for religion at all, however, I have adopted Jesus as my mentor. Jesus achieved what those before Him, and those whom now say couldn't be, perfectionism. How do you know for certain perfectionism is impossible to achieve if you never give it a try is what I say.
Perfectionism is born from being nonjudgmental. Jesus judged nobody, and none of His enemies were self-created. What is required to become nonjudgmental? Never put yourself down, and never put others down, that simple. And here is the payback, you rarely, if ever, notice mistakes, it's as if you never make any, such has been my experience anyway.
If you are sincerely unloving of your boyfriend then the least you owe him is to tell him so. Good luck with it.
He doesn't understand that a woman's behaviour is her communicating : if a woman doesn't want to have sex with me for some frivolous excuses I end the relationship immediately : women want to have lots of sex with men they are attracted too and in love with,it's that simple. If you can't arouse her, move on, someone else can and will.
He probably realizes what is going on, he is just a utility of comfort and provision, only loved for what he can provide and do for you, but not as an individual. When losses his whole utility i.e job you will replace him and dump him without even posting a question on this forum.
That is the dilema of (most) men : we can't be ' wanted ' so we have to be ' needed '. You can't be held responsible for not leaving him, it's in your genes to seek out a man for your provision and that of your kids : for that reason you are justified to stay for the mere reason that your needs are being met. On the other hand, it's his responsibility to leave you if his needs are not being met.
