Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I'm not sure if this is the "right" group to post this in but, I'm hoping someone here has been through this issue and has some ideas.
I'm fortunate enough to have been able to get away from my abusive alcoholic husband and to do so with our less than 2 year old child.
But- the damage has been done. I've tried to explain that I'm terrified to leave him with a babysitter to many people. If I can't trust my husband alone with our child how am I expected to trust a stranger?
I have friends, I have family but, in almost 2 years I have had someone watch my child 3 times. That's it. A friend once(and he was asleep!) the same family member twice.
Maybe this is the wrong group for this issue but, life is mounting on me with things I need to do but am putting off because I can't take my son along- and I'm so scared to hire a sitter.
For further clarification- my husband left food in the oven and passed out- I was asleep and the baby was asleep- by the grace of God I woke up- this was the day I hired an attorney. I'm traumatized by this and basically now trust no one with my child.
I need help- has anyone been through this? How'd you manage to get through it?
Thanks in advance!

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Maybe think of any nieces you have, or daughters of friends, or daughters of family members.... someone who is a teenager, early 20's. I think referrals is the first place to look.
And there is a website called Care.com. They have lots of local babysitters, nannies, housekeepers.... Check for the ones that have had background checks, and have references. You talk to them before even meeting them. Maybe that will help get a feel of the person.
Maybe start with a short visit, say, 1 hour of babysitting at first. Until you feel more comfortable with the person.
Hope this helps. I know it is not easy. Good luck.
