I have a friend that confounds me.
He dates alot of women. But always seems to be addicted to women that bring alot of drama into his life.
If he finds a woman that doesn't have alot of baggage and drama in his life he is not interested and cast them away quickly.
He is a great friend as he is always there to help. But I have to wonder what is up? We have talked and I think he respects what I have to tell him. But his pattern is never ending. I have quit trying to get him to see what he is doing, I just sit back and listen.
He has even been in fear for his life and safety at times. I got to know one woman that made him feel this way and he had good reason.
I think for me its a good lesson in ways, as I see myself in him to a small degree. I used to be the rescuer, and was stomped on very hard earlier in life. There was not much left of me after each instance. But I would finally pick myself up and rebuild.
I don't date much now, but I am very happy with life most of the time. I know it can on occasion get lonely.
When I get home there is peace....That in its self is worth so much!
Some day I hope to find the better half of me, but in this time I watch and remember what I don't want.
Life really is very short. I am 59 now and look back at the time I wasted with the wrong women.
If not for my exceptional children, there is nothing at all I would go back to. No way in Hell as they say.
When I see red flags I walk away very quickly now.
I hope someday my friend will figure things out, But I am afraid he just likes upheavel and drama.
Its not a good way to live.
If you find yourself at home and lonely, please don't waste so much of your life the way I did.
Remember to take time to heal. Get sleep and eat right. Take some vitamins and avoid alcohol.
No one should let the hurt try to destroy them. You will be special to someone. If you are dwelling on things that just won't be, then you will walk right by the one you should have.
Big Big hugs to all that are going through the pain of a breakup.
Better things are around the corner.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Maybe your friend likes to rescue someone, to feel needed. He likes the excitement and the drama of it all. The adrenaline rush, the not-knowing-what-is-next factor to it all. Some people are like that, and that's just fine.
Like you said, don't try to change him. Just be his friend and listen and support him. Let him live the life he likes to live. If he didn't like it, he would've changed it.
