Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Forget about smashing the control, buy your mom a set of headphones.
He wants attention, this is how man are, that's why he is behaving like this and being sick it is hard on him.
You might be able to help them rather than running away from them, and maybe just give them some time for themselves or go to your room, so they can have some privacy. They might need right now and you can help cheering them up.
And saying this I hope it wouldn't have to come to this, I hope you can find a stress free job you enjoy that will support you financially while being able to keep your boat
But your acting like a child. You have the means to take care of yourself even if it for a short time by selling that boat. Instead you sit at your parents place burdening them and complaining about it.
Like people keeped telling Rebs, you need to take care of yourself and move on and things will get better. Well here you are, its your choice to sit in a rut or try pulling yourself up and moving forward.
Best of luck to you either way.
Comparing me to Rebs is really getting out there. Saying that I am acting childish and you have no idea what my financial situation really is or the other things involved in the ideas that you are suggesting.
I have moved on....I got out of a stressful job that was killing me and I left before I was forced out. This was a move that I had to do at the time due to the economy. It is not an ideal move but who are you to offer advise on a situation that you don't even know all the facts about. Then you attack me by calling me childish because I am holding onto one of the few assets that I have left after my divorce. I flat out own my boat and I flat out own my truck, I have no bills other than health insurance and cell phone. I have money left from when I left the other job to coast me through a few months until I find another job. It isn't like I am being a sponge.
When you sell something, it's more like giving it away for nothing. So selling the boat might not solve the problem. Heave has already lost a lot, he just need to focus on getting a job and finding the right solution, talking to his parents openly about what he sees and feeling, without negative emotions might be the right solution. If his parents are telling him that he is the problem, then I would agree with you.
In this situation I see his dad diabetic fear as being the real issue.
So what you are saying, if I understand, is that Heave is not allowed to post a thread asking for support?
The difference? Tomorrow, Heave ain't gonna be here going WAH! you don't UNDERSTAND. I LOVE him which is why I STALK him. Don't post if you can't be NICE to me and tell me exactly what I want to hear.
Rebs is keeping herself where she is hoping things will turn around and she will get what she wants
Heave is sitting at his parents place waiting for a call for a job that will get him what he wants.
Granted heave is out trying, but a job search in these times could very well be a long process.
Yet I see him holding onto something worth some amount of money, if it is comparable to a house to me that is even worst that he is holding onto it, all the while he could TRY and sell it and make better of his current financial situation.
Family helping is one thing, but why would you force it on them when you have a means to take care of yourself.
I said before I hope the best for him, but I cannot see why someone goes and complains about their situation when they have the means to fix it or at least try and fix it.
When I get out of school I am unemployed. My options are hope some of the jobs I am applying for pan out, go work out of scope, or go back to another Province and work shift work. I do not want to go back and work in Alberta, but I may have to to sustain myself and my kids. Sometimes we do things we don't want to, it sucks, but it is life.
First...I respond to a bunch of other posts besides my own.
Two...I am actually someone who comes on this community and outreaches and gives support to other people besides myself.
Three...I am not constantly talking about going back to my ex.
My situation is way different. You are so wrong on this. You don't even bother reading what I have posted about my situation to try to figure it out. You speak about me going out waiting for a job..FYI...I have sent out over 100 resumes. Yep...over 100. I am not sitting around milking this thing, I am out being an advocate for myself. I help myself when I can.
There is a big difference there. I can't believe that I even need to explain myself on this one.
You don't get the boat thing, nor do you understand what is going on here at all in terms of the family dynamic. I am sorry for your confusion, but you have NO CLUE. Stop already.
Heave; I understand. I sympathize. I was unemployed for the 1st 4 months. It was hell. But I kept my mouth shut to my parents because like everyone said; they took me in. I listened to them belittle me. I never talked back. Stayed in a small room and cried. Got on DS and cried. I had nothing to sell.
And you are right. Who in the heck can afford a LUXERY item right now. Selling the boat will be next to impossible; harder than a house or even a car!
Then I got a job and things verbally got worse at my parents. My dad also treats my Mom like shit. She puts up with it because she is old school. You married for life and for better or worse. My dad HITS my mom. Chokes her when she tries to bathe him and takes care of him.
I am currently now dealing with guilt because we were told today he has only days left to live because he refuses to do his dialysis (sp) and has not in two weeks.
I still have bitterness toward him for the way he treated me. The way he treats my Mom even when she deals with his ass shit.
Must be the stroke that does this as you know my dad also suffered several strokes.
You have my support for the hell you are in and not being able to do a damn thing about it. Things are not in your control and that is probably what is wrong with your dad. He dosnt have full control of himself like he use to and it irks him and he takes it out on everyone else.
That is how I consoled myself to keep me from going off on my parents, especially my Dad.
Hang in there. Prayers, hugs and everything being sent your way.
(((((hugs))))) Tina
Reb has issues. I won't slam her, because she does that well enough on her own.
There is NO comparison. None, zero, NIL.
I could care less if Rebs came here daily and asked for advice and never gave a thing as long as she took some forms of that advice and tried to better herself. I could care less if she wanted to go back to her ex until she is 100 years old as long as she is making forward motion instead of backwards.
Same as can be said as you, I would not care one bit if you came on bitching about being at your parents place working at McDonalds for minimum wage while you boat sat in some Marina because you are going forward.
But right now you are unemployed in a field who's funding is hurting in a recession. You could very well be unemployed for the rest of this year if things do not go better. But hey, you got your boat right. . .
I hope you find a job you are happy with very soon. And I agree you are nothing and I mean nothing like Rebs. I have ignored her (first time I've ever done that) and I would never do that with you. I enjoy your posts and your sense of humor in a difficult situation. You have been supportive to so many people in this forum and given them great advice.
Mopri - back off!

Furthermore...If you weren't listening to the news....the economic package has funding set aside just for hiring public servants...a.k.a. firefighters and law enforcement.
I bet you I have a job in the next few months...far sooner than a 35K boat would sell. In the mean time it gives me a crash pad and I can actually afford to maintain it and keep it because I have money set aside for this. If it wasn't for the weather I would be living on it right now.
Mopri...do the smart thing.....walk away from this thread. It was not me bitching about my situation because there are tons of people in this very situation. It is me being fustrated and not being able to help out a situation. It is about me feeling bad for my Mom having to put up with shit.
I read your posts....however they didn't make total sense. The things that you are saying and comparing me to are based on assumptions that you have made. You are talking about dynamics that you have no clue about.
Bow out of this one because you are far off the mark.
