Things were going good Monday. I had gotten off work and was looking forward to time off. I bought some steaks for grilling and some groceries. Sometime after taking a bag of charcoal out of my truck. A neighborhood cat decided to pay a visit. I never noticed Smoky was in my truck. The poor guy was trapped in the heat. I didn't find him till 11 that night. It was too late. Poor Smoky was gone. I can't get him out of my mind. I'm so down and broken hearted. My neighbor was very nice about it. She told me it wasn't my fault. But it still hurts. Why do things like this have to happen ????

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Hope healing happens here. Genuine sorrow for all that this happened.
I've had various cats over the years, I'm a cat person, but I'm not a "pets are people" kind of person, they're pets. I have a small antique bird bath in one of my garden's as a memorial for passed pets. Maybe you could put a small "smokey" bird feeder or garden decoration, just something to make you think fondly of Smokey when you look at it in your or your neighbors yard.
A few years ago one of my parents' cats fell in the pool, got caught under the pool cover in the middle of the night, and drowned. I kept imagining what he must have gone through and kept reliving the event. I can understand if maybe you feel everything intensely like I do that what happened truly devestates you.
Maybe a few days of just keeping your mind engaged in other things, and staying busy will make it feel farther away. Time might be the only thing that helps. Others have given great ideas and reassurances, just keep telling yourself theres nothing you could have done differently and it wasn't your fault. Sometimes bad things just happen.
Hugs.
Another hug and a blessing....xo
My father once pulled away with the family cat on the top of the car. Needless to say the cat didn’t survive the injuries. Not to make light of the situation, but accidents can happen all the time to animals.
Take care,
