I would advise that you go to drugs.com or wikipedia and inform yourself of the many side effects and possible cross-medication reactions of Clozapine, so that you can be well informed of your medical/mental health.

Could it be akathisia? Abilify gave me akathisia and its a feeling I can hardly describe. I felt like I was going to come out of my skin. I think any atypical antipsychotic can have this as a side effect, so maybe?

Are you seeing your doctor regularly?.... I've seen Clozapine work well for people however it's usually used when other meds don't work

I would see if you can get into see you doc soon and if you need to you could always go to emerg?

Thanks to all for your input. I don't think it's akathisia, it's more of a drugged feeling, like I can hardly move. I see my tdoc on June 20 and my pdoc on the 27th. It looks like they won't be able to get me in sooner.
The hospital pdoc thinks I have schizophrenia but I don't know. I think with that, one typically has a "flat affect" and I don't have that, my emotions are appropriate for the situation I'm in. I'll keep y'all posted on my condition.

From what I've seen of Clozapine and it's been a few years since I've worked in the field people took the medication when they were going to bed as I don't think you can function after you take a dose

I''m not sure who misinformed you what Schizophrenia looks like, but it's not a Disease that shows with only a "flat affect."

This is Schizophrenia:
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to understand reality. Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, hearing voices that others do not, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and a lack of motivation. People with schizophrenia often have additional mental health problems such as anxiety, depressive, or substance-use disorders.

The mainstay of treatment is anti-psychotic medication, along with counseling, job training and social rehabilitation. It is unclear whether typical or atypical anti-psychotics are better. In those who do not improve with other anti-psychotics clozapine may be tried. In more serious situations where there is risk to self or others involuntary hospitalization may be necessary, although hospital stays are now shorter and less frequent than they once were.

The main symptoms of Schizophrenia may vary depending on the individual and they usually include:

Delusions, Auditory Hallucinations and Illusions
Lack of Emotional Expression
Disorganized Thinking & Speech
Inappropriate Reaction and Distortion of Self Importance
Difficulties in Working, Social Isolation, Impairment in Social Cognition

Schizophrenia is a serious Mental Illness with very serious symptoms to be managed. If you have Dr.'s that think you might have this disease that is something that needs to be taken seriously by you. Clozapine is a drug call an Atypical Anti-Psychotic that is often RX'd to Schizophrenics when normal Typical Anti-psychotics do not work.

In my first response to your post I mentioned going to learn about the medication they put you on because of the medication itself, Clozapine is a drug that has many dangerous side effects and symptoms that you should make yourself aware of simply because you put it in your body each day.

Loddy, it is good to see you after such a long time. sorry to hear that you are having a terrible time of it. late june seems a long time to wait to see your pdoc and tdoc if you are in crisis particularly if they both know you and your case history very well. if my memory serves me you live in a group home? is that right? what does your medical person there think or are they any good? bear in mind that you are still getting over the shock of the car accident which will take some time. your injuries must have been severe enough to warrant two months in hospital. so be kind to yourself and as Jan said take the Clozapine at nigh so that you can sleep off the worst of the effects and try to keep your stress levels as low as possible while your body adapts to this new drug, it sounds like a heavy duty one and hopefully your own pdoc will have a better input on whatever treatment and diagnosis is best for you. this is not your first rodeo so i wouldn't worry just yet about what some new pdoc during a hospital stay has come up with. take deep breaths and baby steps and give yoursellf time for clarification and absorbtion. big hugs and welcome back.
