Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I stopped taking my Seroquel 3-4 days ago by choice and I feel in a stupor. It sort of feels like a continuous dissociation episode.
This is mixed with suicidal depression and serious stomach pain that isn't taken care of by medicine and warranted an ER visit.
Yesterday is when I ended up there. The whole day leading up to 5pm was miserable. Crippling pain intermixed with crying. [despite being a depressed person I hardly cry, save for music-filled episodes of nostalgic contemplation] I cut a couple times, mum walked in the second time and confiscated my box that has my blade in it, which really just is a dismantled razor I re-assembled in 10 minutes.
I was going to make another one because I was stubbornly bent on self destruction, but another wave of pain hit me and the need for pain relief took precedence.
In the ER they gave me an Ativan shot for the Seroquel withdrawal and I fell asleep. A counselor came in, I don't remember our conversation but I told her I wasn't suicidal, fell back asleep and eventually they let me go home. The mind-meddling-with properties of the ativan are still in effect today and I feel "slow". At least I'm not getting cutting whimsies, I guess?
Anyways. My Pdoc appointment is this Wednesday. I guess I can just wait.
I thought going off Seroquel and other antipsychs was supposed to help restore your quirky personality?????

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Withdrawal from Seroquel can include severe gastric upset.... I don't quite understand the reasoning if you want to be stable but I wish you well...x
withdrawal symptoms
seriously triggering for those of us that work our a asses off to get and keep stability.
Playing with heavy duty anti-psychotics is bad .
With drawls can cause severe side effects .
Probably a good idea to talk ASAP with your Pdoc, be truthful and upfront about what you have done.
I hope you and your Pdoc can work out a better treatment program for you!!!
Good luck!!!!
(((((Hugs)))))
I've had Bipolar 1 for three to four years that I'm aware of. Why would I not take it seriously? I would never be dismissive of someone like that, wow. Or tell someone they don't fit in with a group calling out to like-minded people with some agreed-upon common ground. Exclusion and being treated like I don't fit in is probably my biggest trigger and one of the most common I see for bp-ers.
Ultimately you have to decide what's best for yourself. The cons were beginning to outweigh the pros and I don't have the luxury of attaining speedy (or even decently not far-off) appointments whenever I encounter a bump in the road. I was almost as bad before I stopped, and I wasn't on a high dose anyways.
I'm kind of caught off-guard and disappointed. I feel ill. Not what I needed to hear Mojo. I'll be back when I have good news.
you're comatose, suicidally depressed, dissociating for long periods, in huge amounts of physical pain, in a stupor, cutting.....i just don't get it? you're obviously a very intelligent, well-spoken woman...to me this sounds like a public suicide note, and yes, i do find it triggering.
i was only diagnosed in 2010, so it's not like i have decades of skills at my advantage, but i just don't get how someone who's been through the mania/psychosis would ever, ever mess around with their meds. i don't get it?
i just hope you live. i hope you seek help and work with a medical team instead of all these life-changing decissions being made by you alone. people die voltaire. i've lost more than one friend on my friend's list to this disease.
I feel like I can't trust this board. Literally EVERYWHERE else on the internet you can expect any kind of criticism for anything you're brave enough to be open about. A bipolar board should be a 'safe place' where you don't have to worry about that or being triggered or anything else.
Implying people who say things like that^ need to leave the "legitimate board" alone and form some sort of community of fools/rejects is just... Degrading. I know it wasn't meant literally but word for word that was essentially the comment in a nutshell. I've been outcast so much from groups I felt I had no reason to not fit in with that I don't even have the confidence to say anything back to that in defense of myself. But I have no motive to make myself sicker. None.
It wasn't just that. I've seen a few comments on here that were aggressive and sharp that made me embarrassed for whoever they were aimed at. Like one person actually called someone a jesus freak or whatever, for example.
And for the most part, like 99% of the comments I've read here were insightful, well-intented AND well thought-out/well-worded. But due to the extreme personal nature of the subject matter I feel loose-cannon frustrations vented and aimed at posters really isn't ok.
I'm ok but please everyone please be careful.
As for me I'm going to live and get well. I've beaten the odds and shocked my supporters and myself plenty of times heh.
I've seen your comments a lot and gotten a sense of the way you view things and you're someone on here I've grown to respect. The comment doesn't match all the evidence I've seen that you're unique and pretty kick-ass, so I'm more prone to think of ye for your typical awesomeness.
No hard feels. Time for everyone to unwind and go look up videos on youtube of screaming goats.
part of the nature of bp is loose cannon. sorry u feel this way. i hopes ya can get therapy ta understand the illness deeper. not that ya dont at all but mayb a deeper understandin of it & urself
