Those people can be found in all walks of life....shockingly, even in the med and psych professions. When ever you meet one of those kinds of people, just realize, how ignorant and closed-minded they are. My understanding would be severely limited too, unless I had been "blessed" with my issues.

Funny...When people think I'm normal, I take it as a compliment. I dont think that they are cloded minded or ignorant. I take it as a sign that I am doing well.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people saying 'it's all in your head".....as if, your problems, when you have them, are all because you aren't thinking about it right....if you changed your thinking, then your problems would go away. Medication is not necessary. Of course, at that thime, my thinking goes way off the charts, and their point is "proved". That is why I stay home now.

Real friends will see the wrong things that they have done in time. But I'm kind of getting used to the words that are said cos they don't know what it is to truly lose a mind, then scurry around picking up the pieces to re-assemble.
They will need help in other ways too cos that's friendship.

In reality, it is sort of all in our heads! I mean, that is where our brains are miswired! Is this a brain illness? Of course, that doesn't mean we're normal. My question to this ex-friend would be, "Why do you think I went to the doctors in the first place? So they could convince me I wasn't normal?"

Your real friends will at least try to understand that this is a legitimate illness, diagnosed by legitimate physicians, and treated as such. Unfortunately there are closed minded, ignorant people out there who are unable to understand even basic medical science. That is not YOUR problem!

I have come across several of these in the last few years, friends and family. I agree a true friend will see the truth and understand. A true friend will be there, learn about it and support you. Those who don't are not worth the time.

Lol sossified. :) I sent him a scathing email that should make him rethink his theory that I am sane. :) Made me feel better. I just don't get it, he has seen me unmedicated..... he KNOWS, but he say's that the doctors have convinced me I'm ill and I should stop taking my meds..... Maybe he just misses all the kinky sex I was handing out when I was manic. Hm.
