Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

anyone else feel like a burden? i feel like my illness burdens those around me and they're almost obligated to feel sorry for me. i don't want to be pitied! that makes me feel 10X worse. my best friend knows what i go through and she tries to help, but i know deep down she's sick of me being in a "mood". i can tell she is growing tired of it. to her i'm just that sad girl that can't get over herself. my dad tells me "alyssa, you have to just think happy things and you'll feel better". but that's not it! that's not even close to how it works. i'm just sick of people not understanding that this is a long process and i need time. i can't just "snap out of it". i'm sorry that i'm such a burden..

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Your family and anyone else that you deem important in your life need eduction.
I'm in no way associated with the following, but it has helped me and I've recommended it to others, even tho some of them, family even, won't do it.

It's a free online course about bipolar and learning to live with it. Do give it a try, please
Bringing my problems here also helps me feed the needs of the disorder without burdening those who really don't have the inside information to understand. I don't see how anyone can understand this roller coaster ride if they have never been on it. May they never have that inside info and may those of us who are stuck with it continue to gain strength from leaning on one another.
I'm with you on the pity thing. Nothing shuts me down faster than pity. I translate pity tones as a polite way to say, "Shoo, fly. You bother me." Justinations drive me even buggier. *If* I could just ^it^ all, I would have justed it all away a very long time ago. I am not doing any of this *just* to inconvenience you, jerk-off. Believe it or not, ^it^ is even more inconvenient on my side of the dilemma.
Don't be sorry for who you are. Keep moving forward and trying hard. You will get through this.
You are wonderful!
