Ever since June I have been having sleep issues. I was afraid to tell my pdoc because hubby made me promise to try it his way....so I did with still no success....I used to go to bed around 8 or 9 pm my time my way but either could not fall asleep or could not stay asleep. Then hubby said my problem was sleeping to early. So, I decided to start staying up later. I have been staying up late (my husband's way) For a week now, and still no luck. I still can't sleep. I had sleep issues way before I started taking the Zoloft so I know my medicine isn't the culprit. I drink soda after 2pm. My one friend says that it's the soda drinking habit that I have is the reason why I can't get any sleep. Do you think she is right or wrong. If she is what should I do? If she isn't what should I do?
I see my pdoc tomorrow at noon.

Yea soda will do it. I have seen your threads earlier & yes you can take benadryl with geodon. If you do not believe me call poison control. The side effect that you are reading about basically is that it will make you tired... I have no idea why on earth CVS is refusing to sell it to you, very strange.

certainly discuss your concern with the doc, but hey-don't stress over it! I was manic and didn't sleep for 2 months!!!!! A record? maybe...I know how much sleep I can go with out, several nights with stuff all and I might pop a pill. Sleepwell work for me. They're also called Restavit. Active ingredient; doxyclamine I think.

Benadryl causes respiratory depression with my drug as a interaction on drugs.com.....I will refuse to take it.

BTW they use benadryl for some mild types of akathisia with antipsychotics

Yes - which is basically meaning you will get sleepy - call poison control.

It is "central nervous system depression" which is basically tiredness - like I said call poison control they can explain it to you.

It is the *exact* same listed reaction with Seroquel, Abilify, Risperdal, & Zyprexa

Works out nice that you are seeing pdoc tomorrow and can discuss this. Loads of reasons why people have trouble sleeping but as we all know being BP mini mania's can be hiding in there.

You've been in the er a few times lately too haven't you? Seems you're meds aren't keeping you as stable as they are intended and maybe there needs to be a tweaking or a change all together.....

I am supposed to get drowsy on Geodon but it doesn't do anything to me.....I still don't think it's safe to take which is why I didn't do what the ER doctor said. I am waiting for my pdoc to perscribe me something tomorrow.

BTW, I already decided to switch to decaf soda this morning when my friend made the comment about the caffiene keeping me up at night.

Geodon made me super super super hyper - I was like running around with my head cut off/energizer bunny & my heart rate insanely high. Actually had to go to the ER & they deemed me allergic to it, which I am not actually "allergic" per se, just cannot take it.

I will drink regular diet soda until 2pm. After 2pm it's diet decaf soda for me......I will make a sacrifice so I can have sleep.

i take 200mg of geodon along with all of my other meds at 7pm at night. sometimes it makes me sleepy, other times i am up til 2or 3 in the morning with racing thoughts. to combat that, with pdoc permission, i take 2mg ativan and 25mg benedryl, i take that at 9pm. needless to say, i fall asleep by 10pm.

if you think a sleeping pill won't affect your respiration and CNS, you have been misinformed.

I have said this before but I will try again:

Melatonin
regular sleep schedule
meditation
warm bath
NO CAFFEINE---especially after 12 noon
Message by hubby
sex

It works sometimes. Be HONEST with pdoc, I dont get why you are not........lack of sleep can cause anxiety which you are now medicated for. It seems you are just masking problems, not solving them.

Exercise before 12 noon also or you can have trouble sleeping.

Also, it's great that you switched to decaf, but with the amount of problems you've been having with your sleep, you also might want to watch your sugar intake= which can also make it hard to sleep. Try eating sleep-inducing foods several hours before sleep (pasta, etc).

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
