I am so sorry that you reached out for support and got the door slammed in your face. Clearly you weren't trying "to put anything on her," you were just needing some reassurance and someone to listen. I think that sometimes people are too mired in their own mud and muck to be supportive, but really, you should be able to ask that of a friend. I don't know that there is anything much to do about it right now-- maybe give it some time and then call her again. If it comes up, let her know that you were just looking for reassurance. I am taking it that this is a close friend, which makes it hurt even worse. I am sorry.

Thanks everyone.....I was starting to get paranoid and maybe thinking I was expecting so much from such a close friend....but realize now that if she is a close friend then I have a right to expect some kind of support. So now I am not as paranoid as I was before.

Sorry you got treated that way. I had a very close friend-cousin and when my husband died she said I'm sorry I just don't have the energy to be there for you...I know how you feel.

sorry to hear that. i've had quite a few friends that have acted that way w/ me.
they're no longer my friends. w/ everything we gotta deal w/ we dont need our friends to act like that.

Well my husband's hours have got cut back instead of 40 hours he now gets 32 and we're not eligible for any relife from food assistance from the welfare office because husband still makes just a hair too much over the limits. At least I should be happy that we're eligible for Li Heap now so that should help some. I know she has problems herself with her arthritis and needing surgery and such but at least she could have understood me some instead of just making me feel guilty for wanting some kind of reassurance. Next time my caseworker comes over she's going to help me search for work in this economy. She said that is something she can do as a caseworker so there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

sorry to hear bout ur hubby's work hrs. my hubby had to take on a part time job just to keep us from losin our house and car.

So sorry to hear about that Unwell.....Yeah everyone's really feeling it. The parents gave us more deer meat to help with our food costs since the hubby got his hours cut. My caseworker said I can't wait for my SSI case to go through with the lawyer and I should probably be searching for a job and just because I can't control my mood swings doesn't mean I deserve SSI. IT's not like I can ask for another caseworker either because they are booked solid. With loads of cases. But it's good that she suggested she'd drive me around picking up applications but I know we've had the biggest job loss since the last depression and that I should probably give up hope that I am going to get hired. But with the hubby's hours the way they are I have to do something even if it's only searching.

I'm sorry to hear your friend was not supportive.. not making excuses for her but it may be that you called at a difficult time for her and she may have already been overwhelmed and felt it was to much to take your problems on to when she is feeling this way.. even in listening and not offering solutions to someone's problems it can be draining.. if she is a solution oriented person, she will feel frustrated in that she has no advice to give... having said this perhaps you can clarify your relationship more as to both of your expectations...sit down together and help her understand how you feel and what you expect from her.. some people really don't think listening is enough.. .. if you have talked alot about your situation to her, she may also be just tired of hearing and again not be able to give a solution... anyhow just a thought..

I know facing financial difficulties is overwhelming for anyone.. I look for ways to cut back on sites such as dollarstretcher.com and others.. they also offer ways to stretch food etc., its good that your case worker is going to assist you .. don't give up hope there may be a job for you .. we have placement agencies here that you can give a resume to and they will help as well to recommend you to employers who interview you and decide from there... That is why I don't have any in real life. They have always let me down and a few dimes short to boot. See I have to pay for my friends. You can't really I've discovered.

They all eventually end even the ones on here after they get to know my down side or my wicked side they get tired.

This is my sad side. My what is the point. Who would miss the likes of me days.

I am going to play devils advocate here (heh, part of my personality) but maybe she was having a bad day? Is she normally supportive? Yeah her response suck, but maybe it just wasn't her day, or she was just being a witch. :-)

I did that recently because of some of the major problems I have and was told don't know good luck and got the hang up. So right now looking for other outlets for my stress rather than old friends. Everyone is so stressed at this point in time, and those of us with mental conditions are weathering an even more insane storm. Give her time, maybe she was pmsing... j/k

i think it s not easy in a couple to have both the same friends and it seems she had troubles too so just wait and give her a second chance.
