Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I used to rely heavily on my family but learnt that as a grown woman i need to find my own way
Go off meds if you want. Go over to the PTSD board here on DS. Are you buying the bullshit that they spread about treating PTSD holistically? Yeah, they poison you over there so that you believe that meds are bad.
Its your life. Deny your bipolarness if you want.
I've been reading a lot of your posts, and you don't sound stable to me hun.
But. You seem to be enjoying yourself so whatevs.
IDK. I have actually had my wife tell me I was in denial about something particular, and I paused, thought a minute, and said, Yes, I believe you're right. I am in denial. There are different levels of denial. For example, in the loss of a loved one, a person could keep referring to the deceased as if they're going to walk in the door any moment, but if someone says to them, "You do remember that X has passed on, right?", and some will be quick to correct themselves and agree, it's just that for fleeting moments they are unable to deal with that fact head on. Others can be in total denial, where if reminded of the event, will argue that NO, X is NOT dead, and don't you dare repeat that lie.
Either way, it DOES sound to me like you are having a hard time accepting the dx's you've been given, and believe me, I've been there and understand that one. It could be that they're wrong, and it could be that you are trying to find the loophole out of having these problems. Just know that whatever you actually have, the best way to deal with it is to start by recognizing it. For one thing, that's the only way you can be able to have it all be in YOUR hands.
I think Harriets statment makes more sense, that the symptoms can be confused, but not that one will/can turn into the other. i'm just saying...
Who is responible for you dx? where is your pdoc in all this?
ps. the penquin really isn't there....
