I didn't notice until recently hope often people use the word 'bipolar' as an insult. Every time someone says it now, I get very offended. But I typically do not trust the poison who said it enough to state that I suffer from this amd that those comments are very rude. Am I alone in this?

I agree that it's born of ignorance, lack of knowledge and it is up to us to educate... If we don't do it who will??
Just like many things that are stigmatized people with mental illness have to stand up and be counted!!!!!.

I can't tell you how sick i am of the jokes about the weather being so bipolar...........I just want to smack people up side the head. I like goofing with my fellow mental health friends ...weather they have my illness or i theres for some reason it feels ok to make comments to each other like we know its all done in love and fun. But a normal person to take my illness or any mental illness and make fun is just a dig in your heart.......these people have no frekin ideal what we go through how dare they!!

I tell people that I have read about bipolar extensively so I'm familiar with it.
So far I haven't encountered anyone making any bad "bipolar" remarks. I almost wish I had... I would love to "teach" them. This whole subject really pisses me off.

yes spaceponey I live way up in Northern NY our weather is crazy this past fall .....well all the time we have a large military base so people from areas where they do not experience the 4 seasons to such degrees as we have.............they are idiots stupid transplants. You know them by their accents. Of course our locals are just as cold and rude. We have a large mentally ill population here too. what a combination. still people joke the most about bipolar. I hear oh look what i did im so bipolar allot too.......wtf does that mean even.
