So I was catching the bus to go to work and I stopped at McDonald's to eat breakfast and given the circumstance I live in Arizona and two days ago it was rainy weather the guy and McDonald actually said that the weather was like bipolar it struck a chord with me because I have bipolar and I didn't think to be offended but it got me thinking was it really right for him to say that. It wasn't like I wanted to admit that I had it but you never know what that person is going through personally or a struggling with

Totally inappropriate and I would have told him so, as I often do when some idiot makes a senseless comment.

We don't go around saying, "oh the weather is so mentally retarded" or "the weather is so like a child with brain cancer"....why? Because its inappropriate and insensitive as Hell.

Using BiPolar is no different.

i have heard that about my favourite hockey team's season so far.

a bipolar season? hmmm....lots of extremes? ups-and-downs? i donno? part of me is glad that the general population is much more aware of mental illness now, but the other part thinks - yeah, what do you know?

I first heard and adopted that particular usage in a bipolar support group. We had quite allot of stress-relieving fun with it, but that was way back in the last millennium.

No offense intended. . . Yet another political correction?

People stigmatize things a lot I think without meaning harm... Unless it's really nasty I don't get too upset about it.....I think it's born of ignorance

There's nothing wrong with logging a complaint though!!.... It might change what's allowed to be said at that McDonald's!!... Big hug.....xo

Even with the new guilt trip for it, in the support group where we enjoyed playing with the analogy, I still believe in the spirit in which we played: it helps to keep a sense of humor about our mental health issues. I still smile when I remember the camaraderie.

Goes to show you never can tell. . . Last millennium's comic relief can all too easily grow into the next millennium's stigma.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments.My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!
