You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.
I guess I should also make my hair appointment. GULP.
No touching is damn hard..
I'm going to start my recount tomorrow because the past two days I have been picking and even pulling at the tips of my hair, telling myself as long as i dont pull a long hair out by the root it "doesn-t count."
yes it does!! I am still damaging my hair and making it uneven.
Tomorrow DAY 1 HANDS DOWN SURF THE URGES OHHHHH IT-S GONNA BE A TOUGH ONE........
Congrats on restarting. I know it's hard, but the more you tell yourself that a couple hairs "don't count," the more easily it escalates into major pulling. Believe me, I've found that out the hard way, waaaaay too many times. Good luck with day 1. Is it 2 or 3 now, perhaps? :)
So the super scary part is next Friday I have an appointment at a SCARY SCARY HAIR SALON!!!! I found it through the trich.org website, they say they deal with customers with trich frequently. My original plan was to tell the hairdresser on the phone that I have had hair loss and I am sensitive about it but I just could not make the words come out.
This is when it would be helpful to have a close friend who knows about my trich cuz otherwise I would seriously make them call the hair salon and tell them that I have had hair loss, because I so do not want to do it.
But I am probably gonna do it myself when I go in there Friday because well, I won't
have a choice. It's either get an expensive haircut now or pick at my shabby hair for the rest of the year.
Tomorrow I am going to continue focusing at not pulling out my hair or picking at the tips. If I catch myself sucking or chewing or fiddling with my hair, I will take a deep breath, remind myself "I don't want to do this," then try to find another way to distract myself.
In any case, it has been basically 50 DAYS OF NOT PULLING OUT MY HAIR. WE HAVE GOT TO KEEP IT UP! TAKE IT DAY BY DAY!!!
First of all congrats on being a week pullfree at work!! Going to a hair salon is a big step, but taking a close friend with you seems like a great idea. You can do this! One day at a time :)
Hugs!
We are slipping off the wagon people!!!
so not allowed to touch my head for the rest of the day.
WILL POWER........
Keep repeating to yourself why you want to be pull free. Why you want to stop touching your hair.
Bad days happen but good times are comin up milhouse.

I need to restart again with just NOOOOO HAIR TOUCHING AT ALL....
I forgot how easy it is to just go back to thoughtlessly pulling out my hair when writing. Think I pulled out like 8-10 today.
I So Do Not Want to Go Back to Pulling My Hair......
Ugh, doing my design work, being creative, and especially working to a deadline are my major triggers. I pulled such a big patch behind my ear when I worked for JUST ONE WEEK in an award winning design studio.
This is a good wake up call. Sometimes we need them.
You WON'T go back to pulling your hair.
