Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I think they go hand and hand. Depression does make you feel and see things differently. Like in a negative way. Anxiety does cause depression I think. It does make you fearful and afraid. And that's not a good feeling. No fear will steal your happiness away right from underneath you. It's not good. I have anxiety that is what I was diagnosed with. But sometimes the anxiety will steal my happiness away too. I hate it!!!!! Italianmomma4ever
For me, I have a severe anxiety disorder, caused by an event that happened when I was 29 years old.
However, I have zero depression. I am generally a happy, optimistic person, which is how I always was, even before the anxiety hit me.
My theory is if you are prone to depression before you got the anxiety, you might get depressed about having anxiety. I never had any depression, and I haven't had any since I got the anxiety, either.
I have had therapists tell me that depression and anxiety go hand in hand, but I don't agree. I have told psychologists that I disagree with them, and then they'll try to convince me that since I have anxiety, then I must be depressed too. I keep telling them that is not true and no matter how much they try to *tell* me I am depressed, I am not depressed!
That is just in my case.
Being depressed can make you anxious. And having anxiety can make you feel depressed. So I do believe your right about them going together. The overthinking part is from anxiety. And that can lead into depression too. Thank you for your comment as always. Italianmomma4ever
I to have had anxiety for about 6 years. At the time I was dealing with a lot of loss. I to am a happy person before I got the anxiety. It just hit me. It was too much for me to handle and I started to get anxiety symptoms. Saw different doctors and did different tests and everything came back normal. I do have Hypothyrodism. They all chalked it up to anxiety. They never told me I was depressed just that I had anxiety. At the time I was very sad due to all the deaths that I was going through. But after time the anxiety just kinda of stayed with me. I don't feel like I have depression either. No doctor has ever told me that. But I do kinda of think they go hand and hand. They feed off each other. I don't know why the doctors keep telling you that your depressed. I guess because you have anxiety so they figure your depressed too. Maybe that's just my theory. But if your not depressed then your not depressed. That's kinda of how it is for me too. Thanks for your comment. I think we're in the same boat together. Just different opinions it sounds like from your doctors. Well long as you know your not depressed and don't feel depressed that's all that matters. You take good care and thanks for commenting on my post. Italianmomma4ever.
I meant to ask you do you take any medication for your anxiety and your so called depression that the doctors say you have? That kills me when someone try's to tell me something that I don't feel. But that's their opinion as long as you know how you feel that's all that matters.
