Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I signed up for online therapy because I have been feeling more anxious than usual lately due to so many changes in my life. I have had this constant tightness in my chest and feeling worried about everything. So, I decided to give therapy a try. Today was my first session and it was a brief 10 minute meet and greet. She asked what brought me to therapy and what I was looking to get out of it and I was so nervous in this appointment that I started to cry. Honestly, I am looking to be less anxious, less worried, less nervous but I struggled to put it into words. Immediately after the meet and greet I felt like an idiot. Why did I cry over a couple of simple questions I knew were going to be asked. I almost didn't sign up for an actual session because I feel like I made a fool out of myself in just the meet and greet. I'm second guessing if I made the right decision to actually start talking to someone about what goes on in my mind and how I feel. I just feel like I did it wrong. I wish I could re-do and go into it better. Anyways, these thoughts keep replaying in my head so I'm hoping by writing them out it will make me feel better. Thanks for listening.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...
That’s what they are there for.
Also I find a good cry (even right now if once a day) can release a whole lot of tension.
Know that the crying won’t last forever.
To cry is the best healing moment of which is natural. It releases so much fast.
Pain release comes through tears.
Here's to finding your way through therapy and acceptance that your body and brain want to help you!
There is no right or wrong way to do therapy. Just go with the flow.
A recurring incident in my own recovery has been that when I let down my guard, even for a moment, I feel a whelming of whatever emotions I have been repressing. Those whelmings hurt like the devil but they are part of the healing process. Sometimes I have to feel worse before I get to feel better. Of course I always feel like a blubbering fool for it, but that's my unrealistic expectations talking.
Steadying support while you work the process. You are doing fine. It's just hard. Those desires can be worthy and obtainable goals. Be gentle with yourself and patient with the process.
You didn’t do anything wrong. Sometimes just the simple relief of having someone listen to our concerns is enough to let us be real and cry. Think of it as a sign that you are ready and open to the support of a good therapist. Therapy is a safe place when we are vulnerable. Don’t second guess yourself.
We have all been there at one time or another:)
Feeling emotional is perfectly fine. And even a sign that you really do need the therapy.
Give it another try. Don't give up.
