Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I've been on vacation for pretty much the past week and, given the times we are living in, that has meant hanging out at home... the classic staycation. It's been good. I've had time to relax, to take care of things around the house, to hang out with the family. But, as the days have past I've been more and more neglectful of my daily self-care routine, my eating has gotten less regular and less healthy and I have found myself staying up later and later. None of this has been good for my mental health. Things have been good, but the past two days I've found myself getting kind of overwrought and stressed in the evenings... and anxiety has tried to rear it's nasty little head. Once I've eaten and done some deep breathing it tends to subside and I feel better. I guess I can look at it as a reminder that just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean I can stop taking care of myself.

Sigh again. . .
I'd rather be a river rat.
Relax and know you're doing the right thing!
I woke up this morning earlier than I typically do, but not crazy early. But waking up in the dark can trigger me a bit (stupid short winter days) so I was feeling a bit anxious as I was starting my day. Then I got to painting and drawing and listening to some videos on YT about the philosophy of Fight Club and Jung on overcoming anxiety disorders and had a realization.
I've been practicing meditation to learn to observe my thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, and I've been getting better at that. But I think at some level I'm still hoping that my getting good at the observing I'll stop experiencing the anxiety, the discomfort, etc. That's never going to happen, and, honestly, I probably wouldn't like it if it did. I don't need to wallow in the discomfort or cling to it, but I do need to embrace experiencing it, otherwise I'm really just trying to shut myself off from life.
