Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I just wanted to stop by in case anyone is facing anxiety about an upcoming surgery.
I had surgery yesterday and had been SUPER anxious about it all month.
I've always been terrified of surgery. It was in my top 3 biggest fears.
But I want to tell you that it was not bad AT ALL.
People working in surgery centers understand how nerve wracking it is to go through surgery so they are incredibly nice. They also understand how vulnerable we feel having surgery. Everyone was very professional, patient and kind.
I was most afraid of the anesthesia but there was nothing to it. They put an IV in and fed the medicine through that. They gave me something to relax and wow, did that work! Then they gave me something to help me rest and again, super effective!
I woke up to a really nice nurse right there with me who put my glasses on me and gave me some water. She stayed with me and then moved me to another room where my family could come hang out with me.
I was groggy for maybe 1/2 hour but it wasn't horrible. It was like waking up after sleeping really hard. I came home and watched movies and rested but within a couple hours felt mostly fine.
Today I feel completely recovered. Mine was a simple surgery, so of course, if I'd had a hip replacement or heart surgery, recovery would take longer.
If you have surgery coming up, ask lots of questions, do research, talk with others who have been through it and realize that these surgical centers want to take exceptional care of you.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
And I LOVE that stuff they give you in the IV before they put you out. You are right...that stuff is amazing! lol If only I could feel that relaxed every day of my life.
But in a way I don't like that stuff because I kind of like being a paranoid control freak and I don't like anything giving me a false sense of security. I don't like anything making me feel something that I'm not really feeling...if that makes sense.
But anyway, I'm glad you made it through all right and had a good experience.
My surgery went well, considering that I was anxious. I asked for water while my eyes were closed, and the nurse didn't want to give me anything, so they brought hubby in, who fed me the ice chips, and then sips of water, and I was so much better really fast!
Best wishes!
It's interesting to me how often people have surgery. Everyone I'm talking with has just had a surgery or is having one soon. So it's pretty normal and routine. Even better, everyone I speak with tells me how great their surgeries went, how kind the staff is and how they no longer fear surgery.
Please do let us know how your surgery goes. I think people need to see good experiences. Surgery is hard enough but for people with anxiety it's really above and beyond.
