Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Title says it all. I'm new to this page and figured I should post. Today has been so weird in that I've been randomly anxious and panicky all day. I usually get panic attacks and anxiety very randomly for no specific reason, or with no specific trigger. Whenever I feel the slightest inconvenience in my body, like the smallest amount of pain somehwere, I begin to get paranoid. I woke up fine today until mid day when I notice myself starting to feel weak and faint. Specifically my hands and my legs (jelly legs as a lot of anxious people call them). I instantly get paranoid that I may have diabetes and that my blood sugar is lowering. Deep down I know I'm reaching for an explanation on why I'm feeling that way although I know it is just anxiety and panic. Then all day I feel very weird, it's a feeling you can't explain, just.. weird. Then, I feel as if my throat has a lot of pressure and I am short of breath. All of these "symptoms" came and went throughout the day. Fast forward to now, the thing I'm currently feeling is a weird sensation on my tongue? or maybe top of my mouth? as if I have some food stuck or something. This is a new one and I probably do have something or maybe a little pimple (gross I know) but it still made me panicky and the fact I've been anxious all day doesn't help. Anyway, have any of you had these symptoms too when you get anxious or panicky? If so, which ones? I'm looking forward to this group!

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Anyone else feel as if bringing your body temperature down helps calm down? Specifically at night since it’s quite cold, I open the window and once I begin to feel very cold I notice I’m calm
When my anxiety is running amok, my symptoms have surfaced just about anywhere in more forms than I care to list. If I can conceptualize a symptom, I can worry that symptom into existence. Anxiety gets my vote as the most creative phenom in the human genome. Equally, if I can conceptualize relief, the relief will be effective, at least for a while. If I can find relief from opening a window, that window will be opened.
It is easy to hate this condition, but hate is such a volatile and hard to control emotion that I shoot for radical acceptance of whatever it is I am hating on. I don't have to love ^it^, but hate is like drinking poison and waiting for the object of my hatred to take the hint and leave.
For what it's worth
"Cold" is listed as a sub-tool in "Tactile Grounding Techniques." Tactile grounding is where you use your physical senses, touch, taste, sight, sound and smell, to draw yourself out of your head and back into the physical world. It is one of the more effective tools in my own therapy tool box. Rubbing a piece of ice on my skin will do the trick.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Temperature changes often help to reduce the sensations of anxiety fast naturally.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
I have spent time practicing two techniques that seem to help my anxiety and depression. I also pray daily and ask God to help me stay in the moment and keep my thoughts captive. Listening to encouraging music helps too.
Here are the two techniques. . The 557 breathing technique is take 5 deep breaths in while thinking good thoughts about yourself like I matter, I am special, I am strong and then hold the breaths for the count of 7 focusing on those words about yourself, then let out the breath slowly for 5 seconds letting go of any anxious, self-defeating, unhealthy thought. I do this one to three times a sitting. The gratitude journal is writing down something good every morning and night something that went well in the day, or something I appreciate about myself. Taking our focus off of the anxiety and depression and focusing on positive uplifting things really helps. What you think is what you believe. So thinking uplifting things you believe those things but the reverse is true - thinking negative self-defeating things, you will believe those. I will be praying for you. Feel free to pm me if you'd like to chat. Hugs and God Bless
We all stick together on DS so you will never be alone.
Good luck.
You explained what I go through pretty accurately. My panic stems from worrying about my health as well. I'm perfectly healthy but any uncomfortable sensation big or small leads me to panic thinking my heart is gonna stop beating. This escalates into full blown panic. I get these attacks at least once a week. When I get them I feel like I cant balance right sometimes like I'm going to fall over. so you're def not alone. I know exactly what you're going through. I hope it gets easier for you. Talking about it definitely helps i think. Knowing other people are battling it is a comfort but you also don't want anyone going through it cause you know how bad it can be. I just recently started Zoloft. I've always been one of those never wanna be on medicine kind of people. So far i regret being on it but it could be cause my body isn't adjusted yet. Hopefully it gets better for both of us.
