Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I hate having health anxiety. Any inconvenience within my body causes me to spiral and overthink my symptoms. I have a question for you guys. Does anyone ever get heart flutters as a symoron of anxiety? I used to get them before and so each time they would occur, I wouldn't overthink it because I had already gotten a check up on my chest and everything was fine (plus I was told it was just anxiety). However, it would usually go away within hours, but lately it's been going on for a week straight and I'm just overthinking that something may be wrong with my health. I have noticed that my anxiety has been coming back in the last months, so I'm trying to be aware of any symptoms that I may be experiencing that are connected to the anxiety and not to my health. To explain the heart flutters: flutter is the best word to use, it feels like your heart skips a beat or all of a sudden jumps quick a few times.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Has anything stressful been going on in your life the last couple months? Have you been worried about something in particular?
It's good that you got your heart checked. And, you are young, so I'm almost certain nothing is wrong with you physically.
Do you talk to a therapist? Tried any anti anxiety medications? If your symptoms happen often, and are getting in the way of your life, then an appointment with a psychiatrist could really help you. Ask them for a referral to a therapist (psychologist).
But, if you get these symptoms just once in awhile, and they are not disrupting your daily life too much... then try to think if there's anything stressful or worrisome going on in your life lately. Then, try to address the stress in your life. Once the stressful thing is under control, I am sure your heart flutters will go away.
You're not alone.
For me, I apply some tools I’ve learned over the years to help navigate those times, to stay in the moment. Focusing on being productive, staying busy, exercising, etc. help.
I have always struggled with health anxiety too and for that, I try to not google symptoms. I find certain meditative practices greatly help me. I do something called body scan medication when I start to hyper focus on every little thing I think I feel in my body
yup, this is another symptom which i get, also. my own heart flutters have escalated all the way to emergency room visits for potential heart attacks. in my own case, we decided it was an anxiety symptom, but nobody was getting justy about the symptom. prolonged anxiety stress can cause permanent damage to the heart. there is nothing justy about it.
anxiety management workshops worked wonders for this symptom, also. heart palpitations are not the only physical symptom i've experienced from my anxiety. those same anxiety management techniques work for those symptoms, as well. in my own case, those physical symptoms are diverse, but are all still connected. sometimes i like to pretend that my brain is the most powerful organ in my body. mixed signals there will result in mixed signals throughout the system.
