Hello,
5 months ago my father passed away at 89. He was healthy and even though he was 89 his death was still a shock. Then my mother needed to be placed in a home bvecause she has dementia. I thought I was handling my fathers death well but about a month ago I had two panic attacks out of nowhere. Ever since I think I have developed an ulcer. This led to to trips to the ER to be checked out. I was convinced it was cancer and had this full on dread feeling like I was going to die in 6 months. The CT scans showed nothing abnormal and I was diagnosed with possible Ulcer/Reflux/gastritis. I cannot stop ruminating on the Cancer thing. It is always there. I look at the scans they did incessently and feel my neck and other areas for swolen lymphnodes. I even made an appt with my PCP for a physical and he felt nothing abnormal and also said its probably gastric upset and an ulcer. Why cant I believe three doctors? What is wrong with me. I find myself crying off an on thinking that at age 40 my time is limited now.
This is the worst I have ever felt my anxiety. How do I get over this? I believe that the health anxiety is truly making my gastric issue worse.

You need to take time to grieve for the loss of your dad and also for the change in lifestyle for your mom.
could the health anxiety be a manifestation of repressed grief?
just wondering. . .
steadying support while you find your own way through.
My mom was also recently diagnosed with dementia (along with type 2 diabetes) and my dad's full time job has become taking care of her,
Then a few weeks ago dad had chest pain and they had to put a stent in an artery. It scared the hell out of me and my anxiety went through the roof. I'm terrified that I won't be able to take care of them both if my dad has any more issues... I can barely take care of myself.
