Happy birthday though
You can do this today as well to celebrate you!
Appreciate yourself!
The boyfriend may be in a situation that is not comfortable to talk about, so give it time.
Again, celebrate!
I've had times like that and felt very low. When we're young, birthdays tend to be a one shot deal. We bring cupcakes to school the day of, then we have a little party and that's it. When we're grown ups, our birthday runs all month - although no one may acknowledge the specific day but often, we have to make it special for ourselves.
I've taken it upon myself to have a good birthday. I put notes in my phone about what makes the day special so I remember the next year. The only trick is that it has to be completely stuff I can do for myself.
I have a couple of favorite restaurants so I plan to go to those. I invite a friend to go with me. I may have a little pot luck at my place. And I put off buying something I really want until my birthday so it's special. I also plan to get a manicure or something - even if I do it myself. And I try to spend one day just as I want to - that might be sleeping in, immersing myself in books - or a bath, going for a walk or whatever.
It is nice when people remember our birthday but often-times they're caught up in their own lives and just don't think about it. Doesn't mean they don't care.
Although if your boyfriend is ignoring your calls, I'd consider having a chat with him to ask what's up with that.
