Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I apologize if this seems silly, but I need to get this out. I was out walking this morning and where I live, in Florida, lizards are always darting across the sidewalk. I knew it would only be a matter of time before this happened, but I accidentally stepped on one this morning.
I saw it at the last minute, but at that point, had already stepped on it and my reaction must not have been fast enough for me to stop my foot from hitting the ground. I turned around to look at the lizard and it wasn't completely dead. It was all twisted and it's one eye was bulging out and it was just horrible. I hated seeing it suffer and was thinking of killing it to end it's misery. I kept circling around the street debating it and passed it like 3 times, but I couldn't bring myself to crush it, so I just left.
I feel horribly awful about injuring the lizard and even worse because I left it there suffering. I also get these irrational fears that when I sin (I'm not sure if God would consider this a sin, but I feel like it's one), God will somehow punish me for my wrongdoing, or bad Karma will come to haunt me and something bad will happen. So not only do I feel like a monster for stepping on this poor lizard, but I have this anxiety that something bad is going to happen to me as punishment because of what I did.
I'm not sure what I'm looking for... I know there's nothing I can do because it's too late. Do you think I should have killed it? Was it a sin to leave it there suffering? I guess I just wanted to know if anyone can relate to this. I am feeling horribly guilty.
Thank you so much if you took the time to read all that.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
It was an accident.
The Dalai Lama says that we cannot help but injure other beings in our life. It is inevitable. We consume animals, we contribute to pollution, we disappoint others...
The best we can do is to try not to hurt others and hold those we hurt in prayer - sending them peace. You are doing that.
Its organs came out aswell but I think it died instantly
Please forgive me society
It is interesting, to have this thread (from nearly 5 years ago now) pop up in my feed. I hadn't forgotten about the episode with that little lizard, but I think over the years, I had forgotten how deeply saddened and distressed I was over it at the time.
I think I have come to forgive myself for this, as well as come to acknowledge the fact that I am not perfect and that in just living life, we all unintentionally hurt and cause pain to others at times. While I have forgiven myself for hurting the lizard, I have lately had trouble forgiving myself for some other things happening in my life more currently and forgiving myself for my imperfections.
I am grateful to those of you who revived this thread, as I have been very much in need of this reminder on the power of self-forgiveness. I hope this reminder might benefit others also.
Wishing you all peace.
