Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
So I haven't posted in awhile because I was being stubborn. I have had the worst week for anxiety that could happen. Come to find out we ran out of savings awhile ago, and now we have no money to move to a bigger place, or even our own place. On top of that, I have had a panic attack on a three times a week schedule. With the virus, my wife breaking her back, our dog needs his nails trimmed, (he will only let you do it if he's sedated), we have a kitten that just went through heat, and my wife's parents are still breathing down her neck because she can't do what they want her to. It's they get their way or the highway, and right now, we're pushing the envelope. It's all about control and they can't control my partner's love life and it's killing them. So alot has been happening and I've been trying to stay calm. I've blew up at my wife a few times by accident. She is very awesome in understanding. She tells me all the time that she knows I don't mean it. My hands shake, I start to sweat, and then I snap at her, for no reason then she said something to me. It didn't matter what she said, I would just panic. That's when she would start coaching me back to a calm state. Which I appreciate more then anything. They have finally put me on new meds that is suppose to help. Idk. I hope it works. The higher the numbers go for this virus the more nervous I get. I guess today I'm just all over the place. Hopefully it'll get better soon. As they say in AA, this too shall pass.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

There is no fixing it, you just have to be aware of it. Being mindful of your body will clue you in to when you're about to snap. And you already know the signs, shaking hands, sweating. Probably there are other cues, such as flushing, fast breathing, tightness in the chest. When you recognize them, that's your signal to take a timeout, before you say or do something you will regret later and feel like crap about. Give yourself a few minutes to calm down and regain your focus.
Make time for self care in general, to unwind and relax, so you can increase your stress tolerance and be your best self when you need to deal with problems. Not the ones you can't control either, the problems you have the power to do something about. All that other stuff, that's beyond your control, I'd say learn to let that go.
It's the basis of radical acceptance, focusing your efforts on what you can control and letting go of what you can't. I can't control if a million people get sick today because they went to a beach party/protest/rally/whatever without a stupid mask on, so I say it is what it is. But I can wash my own hands, stay home, and wear a mask when I go out. I can control my water intake to stay hydrated, eat a good meal that isn't junk, rest as much as possible, and work towards maintaining a balanced work/play schedule that includes 15 minutes of meditation every single day.
Sorry to hear about the back injury, that sucks. With the dog, I wonder if there's an approach you haven't tried that might help. My cat, she's a pain in the ass too when it comes to clipping nails. Even after 15 years. We don't always get it done, but we manage. I have to be extra careful not to clip too much, she will let me know.
Side note - it might be a good thing if you are type O, because what I've read is that it's the best type to have to fight off Covid.
Anyhoo. . .
Stabilizing support on the load, Hippo. That is allot to juggle.
For what it's worth
I have often opened my home to families in need, both blood related and general population. Such charity is far from a justy proposition and balancing the needs of all those imperfect humans requires everyone in the household to work together, flaws and all. In the cases where I became the Chief Bad Guy, the collateral damage was horrific and the clean-up after they were evicted was gory. For sure, in my personal experience, it is no fun being Chief Bad Guy under any circumstances.
