Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Like many of you in recovery, I am working daily on accepting my anxiety for what it is. Through all the ups and downs, I continue to make progress, as do all of you who are persevering through our shared condition. However, like many of you out there, I am always looking for something that can give me instant relief; something that just makes me feel like everything is ok and has always been ok. And last week, I found that for me. My girlfriend convinced me that biking could be a "fun thing" for us to do in the fall, so I figured before all the bicycles disappear, with shortages on seemingly everything recently, we should buy some now. I brought home my bike after an anxiety riddled day, threw in my AirPods, and went for a ride. Mind you, I haven't ridden a bicycle in at least 8 years. About 5 minutes into the ride I felt as if my anxiety disorder was never even a thing. All my symptoms that had been lingering all day just seemed to vanish. I have ridden my bike every day since then, and the euphoric peace I feel happens every single time. Now, im not claiming that this will be everyone's experience, but I know we all long for that something that brings us total serenity on an anxious day. And, at least for me, that appears to be biking. Feel free to comment below, I'd love to hear some of your experiences with finding those moments of inner peace that we cherish.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I believe I make some of my most convoluted psycho snot knots when I start looking for microwave solutions and total, impervious cures. That would be the mode which gets me designing spiffy spandex super costumes and putting neon lights on my soap box, to name just two of my psychotic sideshows sponsored by this unrealistic expectation.
Managing my anxiety seems to go far better when I let it be and look for those small reliefs, like riding a bike. K.I.S.S. K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Sweetie. It's okay to have more than one small relief in your holistic medicine chest. Anxiety comes in enough flavors to need more than one relief channel.
For what it's worth
You should have seen the bike aisles last April, 2020. There was not a bike available to buy in the entire state. The aisles were still pretty anemic when I bought my foster son a bike for his birthday last month, but I was able to find his bike at the first store. Garden tillers and baby chickens are still selling out faster than suppliers can supply in my neck of the woods. Employers are working harder to find employees than clients.
I found watching a horror movie or ghost hunters on YouTube is an instant fix lol. I saw some research about it and didn’t take a lot of notice until I got desperate enough to try anything. The reasoning is something about actually feeling in control, knowing you can switch it off at any time, put a blanket over your head, etc. I don’t remember exactly. I wouldn’t overdo it though.
I’m so happy for you!
