Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I am new to this group...well any group really. I have suffered from anxiety my entire life but never faced it. My anxiety comes with bad coping mechanisms such as lying, hiding, running, etc. Recently I decided it was time to get help and started medications and therapy. Ever since they gave me that official diagnosis it's like the anxiety has been turned up to 10000! Since I have faced it I haven't had a single moment without feeling anxious, I am starting to feel crazy. I haven't been on meds long enough for them to build up in my system so for now it's just non stop. I recently started a journal and try to do the breathing exercises they gave me but those almost send me into a panic.
Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone felt this way?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I have experienced it most of my life.
I have found paxil and epival work best for me and have improved my quality of life.
Speaking with a therapist helped.
Not every day is stellar but it can get better.
Welcome aboard.

Inside my strictly personal herstory, I have gone through something similar every single time a dam of denial has been broken. In my own case, the only thing that has really changed is that I have quit lying to myself about that particular symptom. Denial is a powerful mask which makes lying to myself nearly inevitable. When a denial dam breaks, the awareness gushes through with tsunami strength force. Ouchus maximus. . .
The good news is that when I hold fast and face my inner demons, those tsunami strength forces can and will pass. The resulting gain is worth the pain.
But that is me and every case is unique. . .
Gentle support while you discover what ^it^ is for you. Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Keep a daily journal and practice even breathing to help you find calm no matter where you are.
Make a list of tasks you do daily and mark off as you do them to help you see just how much you do.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
New medications make my anxiety even worse of course...has anyone ever been on propranolol??
I’m on propanolol and it’s been a huge benefit for me because it’s treating the accelerated heart rate of a panic attack
Here’s a link my therapist gave me that I found useful:

And this hypnosis is pretty amazing in general, a nice 8 hour one for bed time.
