Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. My physchiatrist recently prescribed Celexa. Said it works wonders for anxiety but it is a anti depressant as well . I do want to feel better but I too read about the side effects and yes , sexual is one of them . I guess it is a matter of how bad you need it to cope . The thing with SSRI are that they need to be taken daily and can take 4-8 weeks before it starts working.
I have been taking B-Complex Vitamins , Vitamin D as well and have been feeling better as far as the depression. The anxiety is still there every day but it is calming down . I have incorporated better eating habits as well.
Best of luck to you.
I take a magnesium tablet when I get the shakes along with liquid intake to stay hydrated.
I'm on zoloft for the chronic mild depression and I am working on the anxiety with movement. Movement is the fastest way to release the anxiety symptoms naturally.
Sometimes, you will find the next worst symptom really fast, and then you have to choose between the two which is more important to be fixed first.
Sleep...the more I move around during the day, just moving, the easier it is to rest and fall asleep at night.
Eat...the earlier in the day I eat, and stay hydrated, the better I feel before bed time which helps me to rest.
Play...even if all it is is clapping my hands, stomping my feet in front of the mirror, laughing, I find myself feeling better when needed.
Hope you feel better fast!
Other vitamins that, when low, can cause anxiety and depression include Vitamin D and Vitamin B12.
Might be worth checking those first before taking meds that could cause serious side-effects.
If those aren't the issue, I like propranalol as it's well proven, older and doesn't have too many side-effects.
