Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi everyone,
Excited to be a part of this group and talk to people that can relate to anxiety and how it feels to suffer from it. I had my first panic attack in 2009 - typical symptoms heart racing, sweating, thought I was going to die etc. I was 22/23 at the time and at my first job post college - turns out it wasn't right for me at all and was a huge cause of stress. I never fully recovered from that attack and ended up developing agoraphobia for a few months following it. It's been almost 8 years since, and I can say that although I have come a very long way, I still am not the same person I was before that attack.
I've had several attacks since then but know now what they are and that they won't kill me. I am currently on medication and it helps a ton but sometimes I have a string of days where the anxiety just hits me hard and it seems like it's for no apparent reason at all. I get so down on myself for letting myself slip back into an anxious mood, where it kills my appetite, and makes me feel not excited for my future and great things to come, but scared and wondering how I will be able to handle it all feeling like this. I worry about everything, I have a lot of negative thoughts when I get in these moods - I even have extreme thoughts like convincing myself that I am going to die soon or something bad will happen to my mom whom I am super close with. I'm concerned about how I will handle a serious relationship again, marriage, kids, everything - when I constantly have to battle with anxiety. Most of the time I do well with it I suppose because of the meds, but like I said there are times when it just creeps up out of nowhere it seems like I can't seem to shake it. I'm extremely in tune with my moods and thoughts and sometimes I think I overanalyze so much that I think I cause myself to suffer more than I have to.
Can anyone relate? Does anyone feel the same way?
Look forward to hearing from you all :)

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

You're not alone. Not even close. This website helps me tremendously, getting to talk to people who go through the exact things I do. Stay strong.
Through this 12 years, I still have had mild to moderate anxiety, but not full blown attacks. I get hot and sweaty when anxious and I chew my nails and the inside of my cheeks/lips.
I hope you get some relief so you can live your life!
@xotrex I am glad to hear that you were able to have a successful relationship and marriage, despite your anxiety. Also makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who has scary thoughts like that. I went on a date last weekend and FINALLY was able to go into it without having anxiety. I just tried to talk to myself and put less pressure on it and really just be present in the moment. I was so proud of myself that I was able to relax and enjoy myself instead of feeling anxiety the entire time. Maybe self talk is what I need to do more often!
