Germaphobe I ain't, but my social anxiety gives me a very similar hangover after any and all of my social events. How ironic is it that the more successful the social event, the harsher my guilt and shame reactions? If I had a good time, I must have hurt somebody, somewhere in the process. What did I do wrong? What did I forget to do? How is this social success going to reveal itself as a massive failure?
Guilt and shame are mean demons. . . They seem to have an endless supply of ways to target their victims.
Gentle support while you sort yours.
Can you think of other places to go out with friends? Such as a park. The only thing about outside dining, and outside bars, is that you don't know about the servers, and are you staying 6+ feet away from all other people there, especially the ones you don't know? Is everyone there wearing masks?
Try to think of creative way to get together with your friends where there could be more distance involved. And less people. Preferably outside.
Again, check the rules in your state as far as capacity. When I go out, I am very careful and I limit my time spent around others that have not quarantined or have recently tested negative. They say more than 15 minutes exposure puts you at risk.
I don't say any of this to scare you, but I do think your concerns are valid and real. Until they come up with a vaccine, we all have to be very careful. Younger people are dying from this too.
Does anybody use diet to help with anxiety?
