So my boyfriend has anxiety issues. If he doesn't sleep enough he gets panic attacks, which is quite often. He needs like 10 hrs of sleep.
He also gets anxiety just from being in certain places, like the kitchen in his house.
I want to help him but talking about it only makes him more anxious and more prone to panic attacks. He's had a therapist before but apparently that didn't help. He's spoken to his family doctor about it and that stressed him out so much he stayed at home for a day and a half and barely ate/left the house.
What can I do? Any ideas?

I've had anxiety since I was 3 and spoke with tons of doctors, therapists, etc. It wasn't until I went to Walgreen's that a PA tested my folate level and to see if I have the MTHFR gene mutation. Which I do.
Folate is CRITICAL to neurological health - specifically psychiatric health. And it's critical to digestive health as well. But if he has this gene mutation, his body can't convert the folic acid abundant in food into folate his body can use.
So my first suggestion would be to see if he can get his folate tested and get tested for the MTHFR gene mutation. If his doctor won't do it, or he's uncomfortable going, he can get the test through 23andme for $99.
With the right formula and amount of folate (vitamin B6), if that's what he needs, he could be completely cured or his meds may work better. Plus, if he has stomach issues, it could help with that and it can also help with healthy homocysteines which play a role in heart health.
In terms of what you can do now, I think the biggest thing is patience. If he doesn't want to do something, find something else you can do together. If you start to do something and he gets panicy, ask him what he needs and tell him he can do whatever he needs to do - that there's plenty of time.
The other thing I would do is be very specific in your help, to get him to do more for himself. Sleep disruption is awful. Taking time to set a schedule will help.
Best wishes.
