Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I guess most of you know by now that I am going through a nasty divorce, and that's not the half of it!
I made one more meeting this week and plan to go to more. The words I hear often have no affect, going in one ear and out the other. I am slowly losing my interest in things and ultimately in life in general.
I am so use to being a nice guy but now now I am being taken advantage of because of my big heart. In order to get what I deserve in the divorce settlement, I have to go back to being the A hole, I was when I was drinking. But I don;t want to and I don't know any other way.
My sponser said if I can make it through this, I can make it through anything. He also said to bend over and take it like a man! How humiliating!
I want a drink so bad!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

It is how it goes and it can be harsh as hell. But you have to do what you can do respectfully as possible, no matter what others choose to do, and then face the music of what pans out.
What is worth more to you-your life or making sure you "get yours"....and this is coming from someone who understands feeling cheated by a spouse financially and otherwise, ok? I try and always keep my peace and dignity front and center when dealing with crappy situations. Not easy, but if I put money or what I think I deserve from others (and feeling cheated if I don't get it) number one I am on my way to sickness.
Stay centered-keep your eye on the prize-your sobriety, ok? Money and stuff can be replaced, your health and wellness cannot.
I'm thinking you are probably not the only victim in this tango. I just keep reading your posts waiting for you to bring up how you are turning to the program for help with this... Acceptance or courage to change, step 1, 3, 4, 9...
I'm sure this is a tough situation for you. When I have found myself getting stuck in the problem and wanting escape, the only way through it was a seeing it from a different perspective.
Maybe pray for her or pray to know the right thing to do or the right way to behave.
I've found that praying for the person for 2weeks and putting it into my god box...works. It sure as hell beats the crap out of the alternatives.
I can't seem to separate resentment from getting my fair share. Now I am wondering what is fair. No matter what I think I deserve, I can guarantee, she will think I am "cleaning her out" and taking advantage!
I think I need to talk to a lawyer.
Thanks everyone! I think God has spoken to me through you people!
Ya think its time to pull the trigger?
OK I'll get one.
Nice insight Bob. We're not always responsible for what people make of our actions, we're just responsible for our actions.
Good luck.
