Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

So far I've passed my 2 month mark of being alcohol free. I'm glad to say I haven't had a single drop of alcohol since July 2 2017. I guess I'm also lucky since I never got tremors since going cold turkey. But then again, I am going through brain fog and nausea which is slowly going away.
Quick question, my aunts, uncles and cousins drink. I had a bit temptation to open up a can of beer when hanging out with the extended family not too long ago (it was my aunt's birthday). Good news is I refrained but does anyone know how to enforce discipline in cases like this?

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Congratulations on 2 months. I remember it took me about 2 months before I started to feel better. After that, my life began to slowly get better.
God Bless
So far I learned that brain fog can last 3 to 6 months, I hope this time will go by quickly
I feel like as long as I keep myself focused on my sobriety, being positive and grateful, accepting the things I can't change, trying to do the right thing and be a good person, it's much easier for me to not drink. When I start to feel myself slipping away and becoming more negative inside my head, I know it's time to reset my brain and enjoy some meditation or reading a book on being positive and mindful.
It's easier w family because my family doesn't drink to excess, just a few socially. However, I do not like hanging out w drunk people while I am sober. They are annoying (although I am probably getting what I deserve LOL) and it isn't fun for me at all. So, I've decided not to do those activities anymore. As I change and learn different things I like, I might not spend time with the same people. Gotta live life for myself.
Best of luck.
Congratulations on passing the two month mark – that is a great achievement.
In the early days, I avoided going to places where people were drinking as I was advised that the temptation would be too much. Today, I can go anywhere without fear of being enticed to drink. I cannot predict the future so I have no way of knowing if I will ever drink again. However, I have no desire to drink today and cannot see any situation where I would drink tomorrow. I fully accept that I am an alcoholic and can never drink safely, something that I have learned through AA.
