  8 years now I had insomnia as a secondary symptom of a disorder. I am 40+ and normally I manage well enough to enjoy life.It's 04:24 and it is the fourth night I have been awake at 4 in the morning in a row now. I know what is causing it. I just had the flu again. My low resistance to germs causes me to get every single one that someone I meet has. And when I am sick I sleep too much. My body or mind decides I had enough and all the meds I normally take and all the tricks I learned don't help....

  I know most insomnia is self-imposed in some extend. I looked for 5 1/2 years for a reasin and spend 17 years in fixing my mind in therapy. I work at improving my sleep daily still. Practice makes perfect and I work hard for as perfect as I can get. Most days that is enough for my life.I just think after 8 years of insomnia any remaining self-imposedness should not be a issue for an insurance company anymore.The dutch disability insurance organisation UWV kinda sucks hard.

  So, writing helps. So here goes, my first journal here.How I got here.I was born broken. Had some trauma before 10. Had loads of wierd and undiagnosed issues until I was 25 and then had 7 years of great life. At 32 I got acute sever chronically insomnia.Had it diagnosed first as primary insomnia but while I still don't know what I have, I now believe (just like my last three specialists) it is secondary insomnia.My home country failed me because of one member of the government.
