About Me

As of April 5, 2010 I am an above the knee amputee of the right leg. In February 2010 I walked across the street from my work to get a coffee. On the way back my foot was numb and tingly. When I got back to work I took off my shoe and sock and saw that my foot had purple splotches all along the side of my foot and my little toe was purple. This was the beginning of my nightmare. All during February 2010 and March 2010 I was in agonizing pain and hopped around on crutches. I went to the doctor numerous times but they didn\'t what was going on with my foot. I was just sent home with pain meds. After being the \"squeaky wheel\" the doctors finally ran an ultrasound on both of my legs and found that I had blood clots in my leg and foot. By that time the damage was already done. I had to have my leg amputated April 5, 2010. Physically I\'m pretty much healed but emotionally not so much. Everyday I deal with depression, anger, and fear of whats to come. I\'m working on the process of getting a prosthetic leg. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
