McCaine's running mate, a gov from Alaska? a WOMAN? what do you all think about this?? tell me your opinion's please! let's hear it all!
personally i was rooting for Mit Romney, so i'm not all that stoked. but McCaine is still better choice than Obama. no matter what McCaine did or does i don't think he could ever get as low as Obama. sorry obama fans, this is just my personal opinion. please don't take this as an attack, i'm just not up for voting for someone that wants to raise taxes for everything especially since he plans to make it the biggest tax hike since WWII. anyway, so those of you who have been following this political competition, McCaine picked this woman to compete with Hillary fans. i'd like to hear what everyone has to say about this.
I think it was a brilliant political move and she is a tough woman. I originally was going to vote for Obama until I realized he has zero foreign policy experience and that he has a messiah complex and buckles under pressure. McCain may be old and set in his ways but he has the experience I want when it comes to foreign affairs and Sara Palin is a powerhouse.
MecCain agreed with bush 90 percent of the time..... i am a democrat because i am for the democratic platform
a womans right to choose.
Mccain palin scares the hell out of me, thinking they will put supreme court justices on the bench.... this will overturn roe v wade.
mccain doesnt even believe in abortion for a woman who is raped and becomes pregnant.....
jeeeez, if only a man could get pregnant....... wouldnt that be wonderful.
To MirandaM, I saw an Interview with Charlie on Tv last night with Sarah Palin from Her home town and She gave an nice interview. I was impressed.
She wished that Obama picked Hillary for VP. And She said Nice things about Hillary Clinton.
I think Sarah can handle what throws at her with the Media.
She has handled it so far.
I think She will be fine.
Ps. I do like what You had to say.
Take care.
Deb
Obama used a bible when sworn in as a senator, and since he is a christian i'm sure he will use a bible when he is sworn in as president. As for the pledge of allegiance. Obama and the rest of the Senate say it every morning.
As we watched Sarah Palin on TV the last couple of days, we kept wondering what on earth John McCain was thinking.
If he seriously thought this first-term governor â?? with less than two years in office â?? was qualified to be president, if necessary, at such a dangerous time, it raises profound questions about his judgment. If the choice was, as we suspect, a tactical move, then it was shockingly irresponsible.
It was bad enough that Ms. Palinâ??s performance in the first televised interviews she has done since she joined the Republican ticket was so visibly scripted and lacking in awareness.
What made it so much worse is the strategy for which the Republicans have made Ms. Palin the frontwoman: win the White House not on ideas, but by denigrating experience, judgment and qualifications.
The idea that Americans want leaders who have none of those things â?? who are so blindly certain of what Ms. Palin calls â??the missionâ?? that they wonâ??t even pause for reflection â?? shows a contempt for voters and raises frightening questions about how Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin plan to run this country.
We know we were all supposed to think of Joe Biden. But it sure sounded like a good description of Mr. McCain. Those decades of experience earned the Arizona senator the admiration of people in both parties. They are why he was our preferred candidate in the Republican primaries.
But that is not what troubled us most about her remarks â?? and, remember, if they were scripted, that just means that they reflect Mr. McCainâ??s views all the more closely. Rather, it was the sense that thoughtfulness, knowledge and experience are handicaps for a president in a world populated by Al Qaeda terrorists, a rising China, epidemics of AIDS, poverty and fratricidal war in the developing world and deep economic distress at home.
Ms. Palin talked repeatedly about never blinking. When Mr. McCain asked her to run for vice president? â??You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission,â?? she said, that â??you canâ??t blink.â??
Fighting terrorism? â??We must do whatever it takes, and we must not blink, Charlie, in making those tough decisions of where we go and even who we target.â??
Her answers about why she had told her church that President Bushâ??s failed policy in Iraq was â??Godâ??s planâ?? did nothing to dispel our concerns about her confusion between faith and policy. Her claim that she was quoting a completely unrelated comment by Lincoln was absurd.
This nation has suffered through eight years of an ill-prepared and unblinkingly obstinate president. One who didnâ??t pause to think before he started a disastrous war of choice in Iraq. One who blithely looked the other way as the Taliban and Al Qaeda regrouped in Afghanistan. One who obstinately cut taxes and undercut all efforts at regulation, unleashing todayâ??s profound economic crisis.
In a dangerous world, Americans need a president who knows that real strength requires serious thought and preparation.
Quality of life in Iraq....those citizens never had any to begin with!!!!Their government stole from them...Billions of dollars including money for aid the US gov. gave to help people there....The men of Iraq worked for nothing and had to stand in lines for stale food....I think we need to read less and look more at the human element here. I am very empathetic to how these people suffer. They don't know what it is like not to struggle. They are brainwashed to hate the US. The US is simply trying to get them to see that Democracy is the best way of life. It gives everyone the chance to have a good and happy life. One day authors women and children going thru what they do will write books and anyone who says "who cares" will feel like a complete ass.
I wrote a post in rebuttal to a great many things Parker said however, I found it too up too much space and I feel it is something anyone can do.
The issues we need address are the economy, health care, education, our standing in the world, etc., etc. and for all candidates to put principles above personalities.
Pesonally, I care less whether a person running looks like Daffy Duck or Angelina Jolie. I care less whether she hunts moose or writes music, whether they're a Buddist or a Catholic (as long they practice seperation of Church and State and does not let it dictate their policies). I care less whether she has one child or twelve. That's not what's going to put food on the table, pay the doctor bills or keep me and my family safe for that matter.
I have been an independent ever since I began voting. I have always looked at both sides did my homework on their sance and voting on issues, then made up my mind.
This is the first time I can ever recall, in all my years of voting, I actually found it scary should a certain nominee ever occupy the presidency. I honestly feel, should she be elected as Vice President, it would one, if not the most, worst mistakes the American people have ever made.
Not just her stance on women's rights, the on-going investigation, the mistruths, the hyprocrisy (some of which occurs in any election) but her mindset...the way her mind operates (or perhaps the neo-cons that are feeding that mind). Her belief system is just too extreme and her lack of foreign policy nil. The world is very complex and it frightens me to think this person could possibly, someday, have her finger on that infamous button.
I would love to see a woman in the White House, but not this one.
I honestly believe this go round, it is not simply a matter of having more of the same, but rather, having it even worse than we do now.
Deb to answer the question directed to MP. Don't feel like dumb at all. I didnt' know about it until it was sung in Denver. I assume many didn't. I thought it tottaly unapropriate and disrespectful.
Here are two links about the black national anthem sung at the Obama convention in Denver. Personally I think the black national anthem refers to freedom from slavery. It certainly didnâ??t fit the true national anthem music. Here a tube link of how bad it is. I hear any relationship to the American National Anthem. I also notice a few didnâ??t even put their hands across there hearts. I bet the whole crowd was shocked.
I saw a show on the presidential candidates this morning with four women in government debating about the presidential candidates. One would say Palin was a liar and then the other would give a rebuttal as to why she was not. Then went on about McCain following the Bush administration and the rebuttal of why he would not. IT WAS MASS CONFUSION. Each individual found ways to support the party they wanted. This year seems worse than most to research what is true.
The statement now posted twice that the Black National Anthem was sung at the Democratic National Convention (one stating after Obama gave his acceptance speech) is absolutely FALSE. It doesn't even distort the truth, it is an untruth, and could be construed racist as well.
The clip from "You Tube" is of a woman jazz singer at the city of Denver's "State of the City" address, attended by the mayor of that city some two months before the Convention. The singer stated she, her husband and her teacher were the only ones that even knew she was going to sing that particular song at that particular time. Barrack Obama had nothing to do with it.
The TRUTH:
Jennifer Hudson sang the National Anthem at the Convention, the Pledge of Allegiance by Shawn Johnson (an Olympian) and the Presentation of the Colors (flags) by disabled American veterans.
I watched the convention and Jennifer Hudson. For those of you who might have missed it, here it is.
jamsnjaz I am sorry you are taking this topic so personal. I certainly hope you are not insinuating I am a racist. You are way off base if you are.
I will stand corrected in saying it wasn't the Denver Convention. With all the media making it look like it was at the convention here I made a mistake. I clipped this from 9 news that I copied and pasted with the link I posted with the you you tube video. The article starts DENVER - Mayor John Hickenlooper's annual State of the City address may get more attention for what wasn't included than what was.
Rene Marie was asked to sing the national athem and didn't. It is my opinion in doing so as she did that she seperated Black Americans from all other American races. America is the melting pot of the world and accept all races. I thougt as the article said she went out of bounds in this choice and showed disrespect. If anyone has made a racist undertone it was her in choosing to sing the black nationl anthem and seperating blacks from other American races. We are all suppose to be united!
Unfortunely racism and discrimination is a part of DS. Many comunnities have discussions on how to handle predjudice/discrimination whether it be color, same sex relationships or a white woman the has to fight sexual harrasment in what is still more a mans world.
With Obama claiming his dads haritage as a Black African American your going to run into those that are racist. Obama said the other night in and interview that he realized many Whites won't vote for him because he is Black but many Blacks will vote for him because he is Black. Then there are those that will listen and vote for him because they think he has the best chance to improve our country.
I am sorry if I offended you it was not my intention.
I never did take this personally, nor was I offended. It is good you were able to check out the facts and find the truth. It is unfortunate racism still rears its ugly head. Someday, maybe we will all be able to all vote for someone on his/her merits not the color of their skin; the idea that a bi-racial person has been nominated, to me, is a step in the right direction.
I am wondering if you have read Obama's books?
I am glad you weren't offended by me and didn't take it personal. Yes I did double check the facts as you see. No I have not read his books. When it comes down to the two candidates neither will solve all problems or make everyone happy but Obama is probably the better choice. At this time I try to see what both candidates offer and what they can really do. It would be interesting to see what Palin would contribute. But that is certainly no reason to vote for McCain I just heard McCain probably wouldn't be doing the debate with Obama that was scheduled Friday. I am rather disappointed he did that. It would be nice to see what both had to say with the other present.
I am assuming your read Obama's books. Do you recomend them?

Gov. Palinâ??s Worldview

One of the many bizarre moments in the questioning by ABC Newsâ??s Charles Gibson was when Ms. Palin, the governor of Alaska, excused her lack of international experience by sneering that Americans donâ??t want â??somebodyâ??s big fat résumé maybe that shows decades and decades in that Washington establishment where, yes, theyâ??ve had opportunities to meet heads of state.â??
We know we were all supposed to think of Joe Biden. But it sure sounded like a good description of Mr. McCain. Those decades of experience earned the Arizona senator the admiration of people in both parties. They are why he was our preferred candidate in the Republican primaries.
The interviews made clear why Americans should worry about Ms. Palinâ??s thin résumé and lack of experience. Consider her befuddlement when Mr. Gibson referred to President Bushâ??s â??doctrineâ?? and her remark about having insight into Russia because she can see it from her state.
