McCaine's running mate, a gov from Alaska? a WOMAN? what do you all think about this?? tell me your opinion's please! let's hear it all!
personally i was rooting for Mit Romney, so i'm not all that stoked. but McCaine is still better choice than Obama. no matter what McCaine did or does i don't think he could ever get as low as Obama. sorry obama fans, this is just my personal opinion. please don't take this as an attack, i'm just not up for voting for someone that wants to raise taxes for everything especially since he plans to make it the biggest tax hike since WWII. anyway, so those of you who have been following this political competition, McCaine picked this woman to compete with Hillary fans. i'd like to hear what everyone has to say about this.
Even though I prefer a democrat as president I do not care for Barrack Obama. I still think if Hilary had the funding he did for his campaign that she would be the democratic nominee. I also think Obamba used Oprahs connections with the media to get Obama more attention. I think there should be a lock on how much someone running a presidential campaign to use. It isnâ??t about how much attention they can get through advertising it is what the person is inside and will be able to accomplish for the American People.
Due to Sarah Palins lack of experience I would say it is a political move on McCains part to attract female support. Many women who would have chose Hilary are now going with Obama or undecided so far. He may pull some women support for this move. Heck what does experience matter? Obama is running to be president and he lacks in experience. Good thing he is surrounded by democrats that have experience. The democrats still hold more seats in congress. Sarah Palin is a strong defender of family values and has an unquestioned commitment to protect life. Palin agrees in pursuing American energy sources like offshore drilling so we are not as dependent on foreign oil.
I will stay with the democrat party as I believe we have a better chance for affordable health care for all and less or no raises in taxes.
A good question is will Sarah Palin be in the middle of the beauty and fashion war the media tries to start between Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain? And who would you pick as the winner. Palin is pretty attractive to. lmao
i just don't want another great depression. this election scares me. if she is for offshore drilling and finding alternative fuel sources, then i guess i will side with her. you are so right about obama, he has no experience.
lol about the beauty contest!
from what i have seen. i'll vote for Obama, i think the fact that he isn't a long time politician is a good thing. He's actually honest and knows what it is like to have to work for a living. he didn't have things handed to him growing up and had to work hard to get to where he is and when he graduated from college he decided to help the community rather than taking a high paying job. i also like Biden he brings so much foreign police kmowledge to the ticket. As far as republicans go i do like mccain better than the rest. i think anyone who served their country the way he did deserves our respect but i just don't see him being a good president especially because of his lack of knowledge on the economy but compared to who we have now anyone would be an improvement.
i also think it's great mccain chose a woman as a running mate. She doesn't have much experience and i haven't heard much about her but it shoul make for an interesting election.
It will be a tight competition. Hard to say who will win this one. Maybe I should do some better research. When you listen to the nominees adds you get confused. Both Obama and McCain say the other will raise taxes. I like Sarah Palin as a McCains running mate. She makes prefect sense. He has the experience needed and she has a heart to round off the pair. I am glad Obama chose Joe Bidin or he would be in some trouble. I have a feeling the VP if hey win will have more power than most with Obama's lack of experience. I agree with with Panda as far as Hilary but now that she will not be Pres I am for McCain. Always have been but Hilary had me going for her at one time.
The beauty/fashion statement if funny because it actually may happen. lmao
Obama is just another lying politician. Cindy McCain was on and interview this morning. I like her on this interview. She spoke highly of Palin becomming a major then a govenor and even fought her party becaue she disagreed with what they wanted. She is a fighter. Obama's add says McCain said he doesn't know how many houses he owns. I saw the qoute today and he said I need to get with my staff. Then in Cindy's interview it was her father that was rasied poor and worked hard to come up with $10,000(a lot of bucks back then) to build houses. She owned the houses through inheritance from her father. How dare Obama whine about being brought of poor and how hard his family and he worked to get were he was. Hypocrit. Yea he was real poor. He went to Columbia University then gradutated from Harvard. And check into the shanaigans of how Obama got his mansion he lives in from a past job....
I am swayed again. I may not make a decision until after I get through all this trashin add campaigning. Keep in mind McCain didn't agree with Bush much of the time.
Ah blooming another cleche'. I beg to differ. I like a good political or religious debate. If it turns into and arguement I dont' continue.
If you get others thoughts on them it can changed your perspective.
Especially in polotics. I don't spend a lot of time researching what is true or not in polotics and sometimes another person may mention something you have missed and with a differnet perspective you look at thinks with a more open mind.
The Holy Scriptures are pretty black and white to me as you can just look up a scripture for reference. I have also on my christian groups found scriptures for reference I was not thinking about.
It is good if it stays debate and not a arguement.
I think his choosing that particular woman was a bad decision. I don't know what Obama has to do with the discussion the way it is presented here--just an excuse for people to dump on him--but Obama DOES have to do with why McCain picked a woman at all. I think McCain felt threatened because Obama has been getting so much attention, particularly with the Democratic Convention, and all you heard all week was "making history, making history, making history." Suddenly, McCain pops up with some female on his ticket that you've never heard of when Romney or Huckabee would have been more logical choices. Why? So McCain, too, could make history, not to mention make the Republican party look more progressive than people think it is and to try to pick up votes of some of those middling Democrats/independents who don't know what to do/don't like Obama but also don't like Republicans.
But I look at Palin's background and have no idea why anyone thinks that's a good choice. It gets McCain the attention he wants in the short run, but she's not impressive, well-known, etc. If he wanted a woman to run with him, Elizabeth Dole might have been better--at least she has a Harvard Law degree, decent political background and is known to a lot of average voters. I had said months ago that the best choice for McCain would have been Huckabee. Obama won a lot of Southern states in the primaries, but Southerners usually will support one of their own over a politician from elsewhere, especially if the politician is a Southerner. Though Hillary might be married to someone from and lived in Arkansas, no one really regards her as Southern. Huckabee, Governor of Arkansas, might have helped McCain get some of those Southern states Obama now might get in November. Palin doesn't help strategically all that much for McCain to choose her over Huckabee. I know I don't like Obama or McCain, but Palin is not going to change my mind because she's a woman or for any other reason.
Could McCain possibly be looking to pick up the Hillary votes?
Could McCain possibly be looking to pick up the evangelical votes?
Could McCain possibly be saying "Look at me! I picked a woman, I'm a maverick!"?
Could McCain possibly be trying to pick up women's votes in general?
Could it be she looks good in front of a camera?
He met her once, before he decided on her as a running mate - so I thought to answer my own questions.
As usual, I check out how the candidates have voted on all the issues and their experience, where they stand, their integrity, etc...as much factual (note I said, factual) information as I can before I decide.
Soo.....I went to ontheissues.org. - an impartial wealth of information of how the candidates stand and how they voted on every issue you can think of.
Let me see....a mayor of a small town of 7,000. A governor for two years. Commander of the Alaska National Guard (though I was hard pressed to remember the last time Alaska had to call out the National Guard). And she is a Right to Lifer.
Now, to her stance on important issues, her views on foreign policy, the envirnoment, health care, education, the economy, Roe V. Wade, etc. etc......much to my surprise what I found she had done - basically, in almost all instances she was a blank page.
So, my next question was...well, who's going to advise her? Who's going to educate her in all iof two months? That answer made me uncomfortable...just as the thought that this woman is quite literally a heart beat away from the presidency - something that could be a real issue due to McCain's age, not only death, but senility, too.
Unfortunately, I then became even more amazed and somewhat appalled by Mc Cain's choice and know that ticket definitely won't get my vote.
.
DRenS notice bluesun posted the questions but also adds a comment about Obama. We are down to a democratic nominee and a republican nominee running against each other for the presidency. It isn't unusual to mention the other party in questions like this. You have mentioned Obama yourself in your response. It relates to a whole package not just one person. I don't agree Obama is brought up to only bash him. Why not just start an Obama bashing topic? Lol Obama hasnâ??t enough experience for president but he will be surrounded by men and women who have knowledge to help him just as Palin will.
I still stand by my first post as to why McCain picked Palin. "Due to Sarah Palins lack of experience I would say it is a political move on McCains part to attract female support.
On Palin: Here is a little positive about her. I am sure she will be learning a lot.
" Sen. Mike Crapo, Rep. Bill Sali and Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter praised her background, values and grasp on Western issues.
"I think she brings a lot of balance," Otter said. "She has been very involved in the Western Governor's Conference, in the National Governor's Association on primarily education matters, criminal justice, natural resources, and transportation, she has always provided a lot of leadership and a lot of input to the other governors."
Jamsnjazz I like this one. Could it be she looks good in front of a camera?
Should we give Palin a vote for this one on the media fashion competition? lmao
I will probably stay with the democratic party. Nothing to do with Obama but Biden has experience and Hilary backs the democrat party. No matter which party gets it I doubt we will see any lowering or compensations for taxes that matter. Both will have to work on better health care for all but the demacrats will probably get that done sooner. I think Palin will be good with that on the Republican side and Hilary will be on the democratic side.
I think a woman running mate is great but...Mcain only picked her to gain votes from females. In all do respect, He did not pick her (it is only my opinion) because he thought she was the best "man" for the job. There is not a person in politics that aren't a hypocrite. You just need to go with the one thas has the least vices. Hot discussion.....Very subjective...hopefully no one takes each view personally because that is all it is. We all gather different info on this topic and look at obama and mcain in a different perspective. We should agree to disagree!!!
One thing that has been bothering me regarding Palin, is her strong stand on being Pro-Life, (actually anti-abortion), which her party is exploiting (pandering to certain groups). I am certain there are those that would cast their vote for McCain/Palin on this issue alone, rather than looking at the whole picture.
Without saying which side of the fence I am on in that debate, I will say it is not a stand, I believe, that is much in the way of empowering women and could actually harm women in the long run.
The other thing that concerns me is the nation is very divided on this issue. By having a president or a vice president who is so adamant in this regard will be further dividing this country rather than bringing us together as a whole.
By the way, this is not an attempt to bring into discussion abortion issues, i.e., Pro-Life, Pro-Choice, etc., nor do I want to engage in such a debate. It is simply an observation and an opinion.
