Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

I need something to fill my days but just don't have the desire to leave the house for long periods of time and don't want to crate my dog for hours to do so. She is such a comfort for me.
I wanted to hear that year two was much better.
I am at 3 1/2 yrs and find it not much better. Maybe #4 or 5 will be the charm. Gotta have some hope of it getting better.
Yes, people seem to forget about us, even our family's, their lives go on while are are stopped.
Another Canadian here. I am so glad you joined the group. It will be a great help for you.
I joined I joined around 2 months after my husband passed in July 2014. It has been a tremendous support for me.
Gerald is right....a local grief support group can be a very positive way to vent and make. New friends. I went to a GriefShare group, which us Christian based, however anyone can go. I am still friends with many
Of the people, in the group.

The first year, I think I was kind of numb... still in a bit of shock still recovering from the extreme fatigue of having to work fulltime, take care of home and family, AND have a sick and dying spouse on top of it all...
The second 'anniversaries' without my husband seemed to hit me harder than the first ones; his second birthday, mine, our wedding anniversary, his death anniversary, Christmas, etc. It was like my feelings had defrosted and I really felt the loneliness much more intensely.
Since my husband was so sick for so long, our social life had died off already, and it wasn't such a bump as before. I have many friends who saw me individually before he died, still do now, and am making new friends through grief groups, Beginning Experience and through a social group I started in my home town. That and the kids have kept me very busy.
Your feelings are not at all unusual - friends who are widowed tell me they've been through the same thing.
Big hugs, & take care.

I can sign my name under your post! Can relate to what you said! Only people on the same journey can relate to our pains, concerns etc. I lost my husband 4 yrs ago and I am still grieving and I miss him a lot!
It is different grief now.i cry less and on the surface looks like I function ok. But really grief takes much longer then we hope and wish. Our life will never be the same and grief is just part of it! We build this new life around it! With my widows and widowers friends I have now the best connection and old friends do not understand what we have been going through! Sending big hug! Love
