What dating sites for us widows/widowers?

I very much appreciate and enjoy getting and reading emails from those of you who have also lost their spouse. It's been 8 months now and am making very good progress going on with my life. Those of you who have met another person to lighten you life, would you share some of those dating websites? I have tried a number of them including: eharmony, chemistry, plentyoffish, match and true. However, it seems in some cases being widowed sometimes "scares" off some of the ladies I've contacted or not getting a response at all. Wondering and considering the sites where the ladies who have lost their husband can be contacted. Are there any such sites anybody knows of? Anybody have any "luck" with any other sites? I'm in no big hurry but so far the dating thing is what I've feared.

Have any of you watched Murphy's Romance lately? Sally Fields and James Garner, 1985. I'm trying to figure out how to write an on-line dating profile to match that movie. Maybe I'll say "If you relate to James Garner in Murphy's Romance, let me know. Otherwise, please leave a message and I'll get back to you."

Just my two cents from the "widow for four years" section. Enjoy what you can and ignore the rest. This is a different world than the one we knew. Makes me remember the good ol days and be grateful I had them. ;-)

lemonade...I love Murphy's Romance. It was on just a week or so after Jim died. I taped it and watched it over and over at night when I couldnt sleep... I'm not even close to ready for dating - I'm hoping when the time comes I'll be ready for new activities that interest me and maybe that will be my way for meeting someone..for now - alone is ok.

I think I am a late bloomer, as I am just now beginning to think that it may be nice to date again---after almost five years. The online sites scare me with all the bad PR, so I have stayed clear of them. The few dates that I have had have been acquaintances of friends who thought we would be "the perfect match." Not so, but at least I've come to the point in my life where I am willing to take a chance. That's a huge leap for me, because it hasn't been too many months ago that I wouldn't even discuss it or consider that for my future. We'll see!!!!!

I am on Daily Strength bereavement support group. Not everyone on the Bereavement Support Group is ready to meet someone. It is good to vent out our feelings at the loss of our spouses, partner or better half. I've been using it since my husband died on Sunday, November 15, 2010. I was just going on to Widow/Widowers to see what everyone thought of the stupid on-line dating services. I have not had a positive result from asking so far.
