This question comes up often. The answer is simple, "when you are ready to stop wearing it". Many continue to wear it, some for years. Some change it to their other hand and some just stop wearing it when the time feels right. For myself, I stopped wearing it right after he passed, I wore it one time when I had his service and once it was over I took it off and put it in my jewelry box. To everyone the ring has a different meaning so whether you continue to wear it or not is a personal choice.

I think about it often! I don't want to upset my kids (young adults) or his mom or sisters or whoever if I stop wearing it.

Sweetpea11 I get it. I asked that question too. It has been 9 months for me and a few months back I got an idea to have my wedding ring and his melted and made into a completely different ring. I felt this would be a great way for us to become one in a symbol of our love.I got it back last week and I absolutely love it. His ring was just much to heavy to wear around my neck and I was also afraid the chain would break. My plan is to still wear in on my wedding ring finger until I feel it is time to move it over to my right hand when I feel it is OK. Do what you feel is right.

I have thought about this as well. When Lisa was sick I wore her wedding band on my pinkie finger next to my wedding band as normal. Once she passed on Oct 2nd, I kept wearing hers for about 3 more weeks. I then took it off and put hers in my nightstand. I still wear mine and do think about it. I am going to keep wearing it going forward. I am guessing one day, I will feel like taking it off but as it has only been just over a month, I don't see that happening anytime soon. I miss and love you Lisa! Do what feels right to you........

I wonder this often as well. Along with wondering at which point do I delete his number from my phone. It's hard seeing his picture and number every time I open my phone because it feels almost as if I can call or text him and like every other time he'll be on the other end. But deleting it feels so permanent. It's been one month since my husband died unexpectedly and I still wear my rings. I guess it's like everyone says, whenever you feel the time is right. I'm only 29 and I worry that I'll never feel the time is right and I'll just live the rest of my life holding onto to this grief even though I know he wouldn't want that for me.

I had mine switched over to my other hand after 8 months. I got up one morning and thought he would not be very happy to see me miserable all the time. He would want me to live happy, not in misery. I was so sick of being miserable, sad all the time. It wasn’t living and I heard his voice saying “ you are live and you need to live!”
I could not die with him so I have to live!
I am slowly accepting the fact that he is not coming back and that’s my reality....
There is no right time but you will do it when you feel ready.

It's only been 2. months but the way I feel right, I don't think I would ever be ready to take it off. I feel my husband with in a sense.
